Job Overview:

The Personal Shopping Operations Assistant is responsible for executing the operational functions that support Bloomingdale's luxury Personal Shopping experience. This role partners closely with Personal Shoppers/Stylists, Business Development Managers and coordinators/assistants, to ensure every client appointment, shipment, merchandise movement and hospitality experience is executed with precision.

The Operations Assistant serves as the operational expert for the Elevated Shopping business, allowing selling teams to focus on cultivating client relationships while delivering a seamless, elevated experience from appointment preparation through final delivery.

Essential Functions:

Appointment & Client Experience Support

  • Support preparing and maintain Personal Shopping appointment spaces to luxury presentation standards.
  • Support resetting appointment suites and common spaces throughout the day.
  • Partner with Concierge on day-of appointment planning and client arrival preparation.
  • Receive, unpack, steam and prepare merchandise prior to appointments.
  • Execute premium gift wrapping and presentation standards for client purchases.

Shipping, Fulfillment & Logistics

  • Pack and ship client purchases while maintaining Bloomingdale's luxury presentation standards.
  • Create UPS, courier and return shipping labels.
  • Share UPS, courier and return shipping labels to the appropriate seller/assistant.
  • Coordinate same-day messenger and courier deliveries.
  • Coordinate residential deliveries and specialized client pickups.
  • Coordinate Brinks transfers and other secure merchandise movements.
  • Process Marketplace returns and shipping documentation.
  • Track outgoing shipments and support delivery follow-up as needed.

Merchandise Operations

  • Process go-backs promptly and accurately.
  • Remove and replace security sensors and vendor hangers before and after client appointments.
  • Receive incoming Personal Shopping/Stylists merchandise shipments.
  • Unpack, inspect and prepare merchandise for selling.
  • Coordinate merchandise setup for in-residency events, pop-ups and consignment experiences.
  • Clear, organize and audit merchandise holds to ensure accuracy and accountability.

Operational Excellence

  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of packing rooms and back-of-house workspaces.
  • Monitor operational standards and communicate housekeeping needs.
  • Maintain inventory of shipping, packaging and hospitality supplies.
  • Order operational supplies as needed.
  • Support continuous operational improvements that enhance efficiency and elevate the client experience.

Cross Functional Partnership

  • Partner closely with Personal Shoppers to support daily selling activities.
  • Collaborate with Concierge, Studio Services, Store Operations and Asset Protection to execute operational priorities.
  • Communicate proactively regarding operational issues, shipment status and merchandise movement.
  • Support special events and elevated client experiences as business needs require.

Qualifications:

  • Appointments are fully prepared and client-ready before scheduled arrival.
  • Client shipments are processed accurately and on time.
  • Merchandise movement and returns are completed with urgency and precision.
  • Operational spaces consistently meet Bloomingdale's presentation standards.
  • Hospitality and client experience standards are executed without exception.
  • Personal Shoppers are enabled to maximize selling time by minimizing operational workload.

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting, with occasional standing and walking
  • Ability to bend, reach, hear, and communicate as needed
  • Continuous use of computers and standard office equipment
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 lbs. as required
