Independent Contractor Field Interpreter

Languages Needed: Spanish, Arabic, Russian, Mandarin, Farsi/Persian, Dari, Vietnamese, Punjabi, and Other Languages

Position Overview

Resolute Language Group is seeking qualified and professional Independent Contractor Field Interpreters to provide accurate, culturally appropriate, and confidential interpretation services in a variety of settings.

Interpreters will facilitate communication between English-speaking individuals and limited-English-proficient (LEP) individuals while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy, professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct.

Assignments may include healthcare, legal, immigration, education, government, community, and business settings.


Interpretation Services Provided

Field interpreters may provide services in:

- Healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, medical appointments, and patient care services

- Legal and immigration settings, including attorney meetings, consultations, and related proceedings

- Education settings, including schools, school districts, parent-teacher conferences, enrollment meetings, and special education/IEP meetings

- Government and community service settings

- Business and professional environments


Languages Currently Recruiting

Resolute Language Group is seeking qualified interpreters in the following languages:

- Spanish

- Arabic

- Russian

- Mandarin Chinese

- Farsi/Persian

- Dari

- Vietnamese

- Punjabi

- Additional languages available upon request


Responsibilities

- Provide consecutive interpretation between English and the assigned target language.

- Accurately interpret spoken communication without adding, omitting, or altering the meaning.

- Maintain neutrality, confidentiality, and impartiality during all assignments.

- Follow professional interpreter ethics and standards of practice.

- Protect confidential and sensitive information, including protected health information (PHI), in compliance with HIPAA requirements when applicable.

- Maintain professional appearance, punctuality, and respectful communication.

- Follow client-site rules, policies, and procedures.

- Maintain appropriate role boundaries and avoid providing personal opinions, advice, or services outside the scope of interpretation.


Qualifications & Requirements

- Fluency in English and the assigned target language.

- Strong verbal communication and listening skills.

- Professional interpretation experience preferred.

- Certification, credentials, or formal interpreter training preferred.

- Experience in medical, legal, immigration, educational, or community interpretation is highly preferred.

- Knowledge of interpreter ethics, confidentiality standards, and professional practices.

- Ability to maintain professionalism in sensitive and high-stress situations.


Certification:
Certification is preferred but not required for all assignments. Accepted credentials may include NBCMI (CMI), CCHI (CHI), California Judicial Council Court Interpreter credentials, RID, BEI, or other recognized professional interpreter certifications. Experienced interpreters who are currently pursuing certification are also encouraged to apply.


Independent Contractor Requirements

Selected interpreters will operate as independent contractors and must:

- Complete Resolute Language Group’s onboarding process.

- Sign an Independent Contractor Agreement.

- Sign Confidentiality and HIPAA-related agreements when applicable.

- Provide required tax documentation, including a completed W-9.

- Maintain professional conduct and comply with client requirements.

Assignments are offered on an as-needed basis. Independent contractors may accept or decline assignments based on availability.

- Current resume or professional interpreter profile

- Copies of applicable certifications, credentials, and qualifications

- Documentation of interpretation experience

- Languages spoken and areas of specialization

- Availability and service coverage area
