About the role:
As a LEU+ Construction Safety Liaison you will provide field-based safety support for construction activities by promoting safe work practices, ensuring regulatory compliance, and coordinating with contractors and project teams. You will focus on hazard identification, risk mitigation, and maintaining safety, environmental, and permitting performance.
You will report to the Senior Manager LEU+ Construction and be located at Columbia, SC. You will support this role 100% onsite.
Key Responsibilities:
Health & Safety
  • Support compliance with project safety requirements, OSHA, and applicable standards
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and daily walkdowns to identify hazards
  • Participate in hazard assessments and verify work controls
  • Investigate incidents and recommend corrective actions
  • Communicate safety concerns and support continuous improvement
  • Strengthen proper PPE use and safe work practices
  • Maintain safety records and documentation
  • Support safety meetings, orientations, and field coaching

Environmental
  • Support environmental compliance, including waste management and stormwater (SWPPP)
  • Perform field walkdowns to identify environmental risks
  • Help with inspections, documentation, and corrective actions
  • Support spill prevention, response, and reporting
  • Maintain environmental records for audits and compliance

Permitting
  • Support permit tracking, compliance, and documentation
  • Help with regulatory inspections and agency coordination
  • Communicate permit requirements and identify potential risks

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in construction safety or EH&S field environments
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, hazard recognition, and safe work practices
  • Familiarity with environmental compliance and permitting processes
  • OSHA 30 certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Documentation skills
  • Identify risks and support corrective actions in a field setting
  • 3+ years of experience in nuclear or highly regulated environments
  • 3+ years of experience working with subcontractors in construction settings
  • Background in mechanical, piping, HVAC, or fabrication
