The Senior Mechanical/Aerospace/Materials Engineer will work initially in the Engines and MEMS Sensors design team developing highly reliable products which meet customer specified requirements/expectations at the lowest competitive cost. The engineer will be a highly motivated self-starter who will be capable of leading their own projects including schedule management and providing mentoring to other engineers. The engineer will be expected to represent the organization as prime customer contact on existing products and new designs, including making presentations to customers.
What You Will Do:
  • Support bids and proposals for new engine sensors
  • Support existing designs with failure investigations, product improvements, and documentation updates Thoroughly review and understand product specifications and determine design requirements and scope of work.
  • Support complex, multi-discipline teams
  • Perform estimates of effort and duration for tasks.
  • Create and manage project schedules.
  • Requirements management and convergence planning.
  • Prepare and present stage gate design reviews both internally and externally to customers.
  • Generate design concepts in conformance with requirements and ensure that adequate trade studies and analyses are performed to arrive at optimum design configurations.
  • Perform tolerance analyses on components and assemblies to ensure proper fit/function.
  • Be proficient in CAD solid modeling techniques to prepare component and assembly models and drawings.
  • Writing test requests, supporting design verification testing, and coordinating with test department.
  • Specify materials including high temperature, corrosion and oxidation resistant alloys
  • Specify material joining methods and specifications for processes such as welding and brazing
  • Provide necessary engineering support for new hardware coordination and fabrication.
  • Provide MRB (Material Review Board) support and disposition nonconforming products.
  • Interface with all other functional groups and departments as required in the development of the product design.
  • Use department computer technology in an independent and productive manner.
  • Work with the Global Engineering Center in India on technical design tasks.
  • Experience with materials properties/selection and experience with manufacturing processes.
  • Drive the usage of appropriate Lean Product Development tools to support cost-effective technical solutions with a focus on platform design, reuse, and knowledge management.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
  • Demonstrated ability to create and manage project schedules
  • Experience managing compliance demonstration to customer or regulatory requirements
  • Experience preparing and delivering design or project review presentations
  • Experience writing test procedures, coordinating testing, and writing the test reports.
  • Experience with materials properties/selection and experience with manufacturing processes.

Qualifications We Prefer:
  • 5+ years experience reviewing and knowledge of product specifications and determining design requirements and scope of work, performing estimates of effort and duration for tasks, and generating design concepts in conformance with requirements and ensure that adequate trade studies and analyses are performed to arrive at optimum design configurations.
  • 5+ years experience in requirements management and convergence planning, supporting complex projects and integrated cross functional teams, and program or project planning and resource management.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and manage project schedules, prepare and present stage gate design reviews for both internally and externally to customers, provide effective collaboration across the organization and various disciplines including Engineering, Operations, Program Office, and Business Development, and effective conflict resolution and negotiating skills.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
