We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to contribute to the development of advanced CNC machining programs for complex parts. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of multi-axis milling and turning, G-code, CAM software, and machining strategies for high-precision manufacturing. This role is critical to optimizing processes, improving cycle times, and ensuring first-time-right execution on the shop floor.
Key Interactions and Relationships
This role interacts with the Machining department (milling, turning), EDM departments (Wire, Sinker, and Small Hole EDM), Tooling, Engineering, and Quality departments.
Qualifications
- Training and Experience
- 5+ years of CNC programming experience in a high-precision manufacturing environment
- Proficiency with CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, Esprit, or similar)
- Strong understanding of G-code/M-code and CNC machine operation
- Experience with 3-, 4-, and 5-axis machines (e.g., Haas, Okuma, Mazak, Doosan, or similar)
- Deep knowledge of machining principles, tooling, and material properties
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T
- Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of post-processing and machine-specific code tuning
- Hands-on experience towards machining techniques and fundamentals
- Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA)
- Experience in aerospace, medical device, or defense manufacturing
- Education, Licenses and Certifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Specific Job Responsibilities
- Primary Routine Work
- Apply manufacturing knowledge for machining precision parts to produce CNC programs. Candidates must have broad manufacturing/machining knowledge and the ability to establish manufacturing methods for precision machined parts. Support the setup and running of CNC programs within the machining area.
- Create all work with the scope of safety for operator and equipment
- Determine cutting tools, machine speeds, and feed rates
- Design work holding/fixturing for milling, and EDM jobs
- Modify existing programs for different machines or improved performance
- Produce detail drawings, setup sheets, and MOTs for manufacturing
- Troubleshoot issues during the manufacturing process
- Update and organize files to current revision levels
- Setup and run new product through first article approval
