How much do perfusionist chicago jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 14, 2026, the average hourly pay for perfusionist chicago in the United States is $85.94, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $67.07 and $93.99 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

How much does a perfusionist make?

A perfusionist's average salary typically ranges from $100,000 to $150,000 annually, depending on experience, certifications, and work setting. In some regions, experienced perfusionists with advanced skills or working in specialized hospitals may earn higher salaries, often with opportunities for overtime and shift differentials.

Is there a demand for perfusionists?

Perfusionists are in high demand due to the increasing number of cardiac surgeries and advanced medical procedures requiring extracorporeal circulation. The profession offers strong job stability, especially for those with certification and experience, and employment opportunities are expected to grow faster than average in many regions.

What is the difference between Perfusionist Chicago vs Cardiovascular Technologist Chicago?

AspectPerfusionist ChicagoCardiovascular Technologist Chicago
CredentialsCertification (e.g., American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion)Certification (e.g., Cardiovascular Credentialing International)
Work EnvironmentOperating rooms during cardiac surgeriesDiagnostic labs, cath labs, operating rooms
Industry UsageHospitals, surgical centers, specialized cardiac facilitiesHospitals, diagnostic centers, research institutions

Perfusionists and Cardiovascular Technologists both work in cardiac care settings, but perfusionists operate heart-lung machines during surgery, requiring specialized certification. Cardiovascular Technologists assist with diagnostic procedures and imaging. While their roles overlap in cardiac environments, perfusionists focus on intraoperative support, making their skills and certifications distinct.

Who gets paid more, perfusionist or crna?

Perfusionists and CRNAs (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists) are both highly skilled healthcare professionals, but CRNAs generally earn higher salaries due to their advanced nursing training and anesthesia responsibilities. Perfusionists typically focus on operating heart-lung machines during surgeries and have specialized technical skills, with salaries varying based on experience and location, but usually lower than those of CRNAs.

Will perfusion be replaced by AI?

Perfusionists operate complex medical equipment to support patients during cardiac surgeries, and while AI can assist with data analysis and monitoring, it is unlikely to fully replace the role due to the need for clinical judgment, hands-on skills, and decision-making in high-stakes environments. AI tools may enhance efficiency but will continue to serve as support rather than a replacement for trained perfusionists. Certification and technical expertise remain essential in this field.
