Performance Testing Manager information

What is a performance testing manager?

A Performance Testing Manager is a professional responsible for leading teams that test the speed, scalability, stability, and reliability of software applications. They design and implement testing strategies to ensure systems perform well under expected and peak user loads. Additionally, they analyze test results, identify performance bottlenecks, and coordinate with development teams to optimize applications. Their role ensures that end-users have a smooth and efficient experience with the software.

How does a performance testing manager typically collaborate with development and operations teams during a project?

A Performance Testing Manager works closely with both development and operations teams throughout a project's lifecycle. They coordinate to establish performance benchmarks, share test results, and identify potential bottlenecks early in the process. Regular meetings and clear communication help ensure that performance issues are addressed proactively and that fixes are validated before deployment. This collaboration helps deliver robust, scalable applications and fosters a culture of continuous improvement.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a performance testing manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Performance Testing Manager, you need a strong background in software testing, performance analysis, and a relevant degree in computer science or engineering. Expertise in performance testing tools such as LoadRunner, JMeter, and familiarity with CI/CD systems are typically required, along with certifications like ISTQB. Leadership, problem-solving, and effective communication skills are essential for coordinating teams and presenting complex results to stakeholders. These skills ensure that applications meet performance standards, minimize downtime, and deliver a seamless user experience.

Job description

Portfolio Business: Huber Engineered Woods
J.M. Huber Corporation is one of the largest privately held, family-owned companies in the United States. Established in 1883, we are a diversified, global supplier of specialty and commodity chemicals, hydrocolloid solutions, engineered wood products and natural resources to customers spanning a wide variety of industries. With approximately $3 billion in sales and 4,000 employees worldwide, we have a material presence in more than 20 countries.
Position Summary
The Regional Technical Manager (RTM) is a member of the Field Technical Services team and works collaboratively with other RTMs and HEW Sales, Technical Services, Innovation/R&D, and Brand teams to influence the proper use and installation of HEW products. The RTM team also helps advance sales and business development through relationships and influence with key stakeholders. To succeed, RTMs leverage their knowledge of national and regional building and energy codes, coupled with onsite construction experience and negotiation skills, to influence product specification and assist in resolving complaints associated with HEW products. RTMs regularly interact with building code officials, designers, water management consultants, general contractors, builders, framers, and others. Working proactively with these stakeholders is key to extending influence for product specification and ensuring proper installation of HEW products. RTMs also use their knowledge of building envelope field performance testing (e.g., air leakage, bulk water intrusion) and understanding of various control layers to position themselves as valuable partners to the stakeholders they interact with. Additionally, RTMs support the Director in warranty development, conducting onsite claims and observation visits, and working with Sales staff who assist in responding to product claims.
