What We Need

As a Technical Test Lead within Shared Development Services’ Automation team, you will work as an embedded team member of a Montreal-based AAA game studio. With the support of 2K’s central Test Automation team, you will drive the implementation of test automation for a major AAA title.

This role is tailored for a professional with 4+ years of experience in Quality Assurance who has embraced technical leadership. You will drive the direction of a small, specialized team, overseeing complex regression cycles and maintaining and expanding automated test suites. Your responsibilities will combine implementation of QA best practices, working with engineers to troubleshoot issues, planning of automation strategy, and implementation of automated test cases.

What You’ll Do

  • Strategic Test Planning: Implement test strategies and plans across the AAA game development lifecycle. Define technical objectives and priorities to ensure all features meet AAA quality standards.

  • Automation & Tooling: Use and maintain existing automated frameworks and performance tools to achieve broad test coverage across platforms and identify bottlenecks to optimize game health.

  • Technical Quality Execution: Direct daily testing using regression and manual playthroughs to uncover and troubleshoot complex bugs. Oversee the defect lifecycle and collaborate with developers on high-priority resolutions.

  • Cross-Disciplinary Communication: Liaise with production and engineering teams to align on technical requirements. Bridge between your game studio and the Tech and QA teams to balance global standards with local requirements. Translate complex findings into actionable insights for stakeholders to maintain project momentum.

  • Mentorship & Coaching: Coach a small technical team on industry tools and QA best practices. Drive technical growth and implementation quality through example and mentorship.

What Will Make You A Great Fit

Required Skills
  • 4+ years of professional experience in software testing

  • 1+ years in a testing role with a focus on automated testing and/or scripting

  • 1+ years in a leadership role focusing on experience in test planning, QA best practices, and team mentorship

  • Technical background with proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language such as Java, Python, or C#, Bash, Lua, Powershell, etc.

  • Hands-on experience with test automation tools/frameworks such as Selenium, Appium, or JUnit.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.

Valued Experience
  • Experience testing AAA games through multiple phases of the game development lifecycle

  • Deep and broad experience with First Person Shooter and/or Action RPG titles

  • Experience with commercial game engines, such as Unity or Unreal Engine

  • Experience with CI/CD systems such as TeamCity, Jenkins, or Horde

  • Experience with Test Case Management software such as QMetry or TestRail

  • ISTQB or similar certification
