Job Title: Bus Monitor in Training
Nonexempt/Pay Grade. Pay Scale
Reports to: Transportation Coordinator
ONLY APPLY FOR THIS POSITION IF YOU PLAN TO BE A BUS DRIVER.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
-Support school bus drivers by ensuring student discipline and safety during bus operations. Keep
accurate records and documentation, assist with seat belts and seating arrangements, and help with
loading and unloading students.
-Participate and complete training to become a bus driver and obtain a Texas Commercial Drivers'
License to be eligible to operate a school bus over designated routes.
Qualifications:
Education:
Equivalent to completion of high school - preferred.
Certification:
Clear and valid Texas driver's license
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Must be 18 years of age
Ability to pass U.S. Department of Transportation alcohol and drug tests and annual physical
exam
Ability to complete required bus driver safety training
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Ability to use maps and Global Positioning Systems (GPS) to follow routes and locate
addresses
Ability to manage student behavior
Ability to communicate effectively with others
Ability to operate bus
Other Requirements:
Must receive a CDL bus permit within 30 days of hire and have a CDL driving test scheduled
within 60 days of hire. Failure to do so will result in termination of employment.
