Job Title: Shop Floater – 1st and 2nd Shift

Job Description

This role operates grinding and polishing equipment to produce high-quality metal components to precise specifications. You will inspect machinery and workpieces, perform basic maintenance and repairs, and ensure all finished products meet quality standards while working in a modern, climate-controlled facility on a 1st shift schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect machinery and workpieces regularly to ensure they comply with specifications and to reduce malfunctions and production losses.
  • Dress grinding wheels according to specifications so machines operate at peak performance.
  • Stop machines immediately when you discover a problem and make necessary adjustments as quickly as possible to minimize downtime.
  • Provide quality control by inspecting workpieces as they come out of the equipment and removing any defective pieces.
  • Operate machinery, including polishing and grinding equipment, to grind metal workpieces to their prescribed specifications and ensure high-quality products.
  • Finish products by hand using appropriate hand tools to ensure surfaces are filed, deburred, and finished correctly.
  • Perform basic equipment maintenance, including inspection, lubrication, and cleaning, to keep all equipment running effectively.
  • Schedule repairs when needed and coordinate to keep equipment in optimal working condition.
  • Perform basic repairs within the expected scope of knowledge, including replacing parts when they are worn or broken.
  • Use pneumatic and air tools, grinders, and other fabrication equipment safely and effectively during daily operations.

Work Environment

This position is based in a brand-new, state-of-the-art, climate-controlled manufacturing facility. You will work on 1st or 2nd shift, Monday through Thursday, on four 10-hour shifts, with start times available at 4:00 a.m., 5:00 a.m., or 6:00 a.m. And 3:00- 3:30 PM. Overtime on Fridays is minimal and voluntary. The role involves regular use of grinders, pneumatic and air tools, hand and power tools, and other fabrication equipment for grinding, polishing, and deburring metal workpieces. The environment emphasizes cleanliness, equipment reliability, and modern production practices while supporting comfort and safety throughout the shift.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $41000.00 - $57000.00/yr.
