Job Description

The Pipe Fitter will fabricate, assemble, install, and maintain piping systems at CMI’s customer site in Beltsville, MD.

Key Job Functions

  • Review design specifications and blueprints to determine the layout of piping systems.
  • Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes (using saws, torches, and threaders) to fit precise dimensions.
  • Assemble and secure pipe systems to walls and structural steel using brackets, clamps, hangers, and welding equipment.
  • Connect pipes using various methods, including welding, soldering, brazing, fusing, or cementing joints.
  • Run pressure tests and inspections on installed systems to check for leaks and ensure compliance with safety codes.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions and repair or replace broken pipes, valves, and supports in existing systems.
  • Perform other pipe fitter related duties as required
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in the pipe fitting field
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Experience performing related services within a government facility
  •  Thorough understanding of workplace safety guidelines and building codes, especially when handling volatile or hazardous materials.
  • The ability to lift heavy materials, climb scaffolding, bend, and work in cramped or high environments.
  • Must be able to fluently read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • Must be able to pass a government background check
