What is performance media?

Performance media refers to digital advertising strategies focused on driving measurable actions, such as clicks, leads, or sales, rather than simply increasing brand awareness. It typically includes channels like paid search, social media ads, display advertising, and affiliate marketing. The success of performance media campaigns is tracked using key performance indicators (KPIs) such as cost per acquisition (CPA), return on ad spend (ROAS), and conversion rates. This approach allows advertisers to optimize campaigns in real-time and allocate budgets to the best-performing channels.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a performance media specialist?

To excel as a Performance Media Specialist, you need strong analytical skills, digital marketing knowledge, and experience with paid media channels, often supported by a relevant degree or certifications like Google Ads or Facebook Blueprint. Familiarity with ad platforms (Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager), analytics tools (Google Analytics), and bid management systems is typically required. Exceptional attention to detail, creativity, and the ability to interpret data for optimization are crucial soft skills. These skills ensure campaigns are data-driven, results-focused, and continuously improved for maximum ROI.

What are the main challenges faced by professionals in performance media roles, and how can they be overcome?

One of the main challenges in a Performance Media role is staying updated with rapidly evolving digital advertising platforms and algorithms. Professionals often need to continuously test and optimize campaigns across multiple channels to achieve the best ROI. Collaboration with creative, analytics, and client teams is essential to ensure messaging and targeting are aligned with business goals. To overcome these challenges, it's important to invest in ongoing education, leverage automation tools, and maintain clear communication with stakeholders. Additionally, developing strong data analysis skills helps in making informed decisions and adapting quickly to performance trends.

What is the difference between Performance Media vs Digital Marketing Specialist?

Job Description

Vuori is looking for a Performance Media Specialist to join our E-Commerce team and support the day-to-day execution, reporting, and optimization of paid media campaigns across streaming and emerging media channels, including Podcast, Audio, TV, CTV, YouTube, and OOH.

This role is a great fit for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, curious about performance media, and excited to learn how upper-funnel channels help drive brand awareness, e-commerce growth, and new customer acquisition. The Media Specialist will help keep campaigns running smoothly by supporting campaign setup, partner coordination, QA, reporting, promo code and URL management, and cross-functional communication.

The ideal candidate is proactive, comfortable working with data, and eager to build their media skill set over time. They do not need to be an expert in every platform or reporting tool on day one, but should be comfortable with the basics, willing to learn, and able to follow through on details in a fast-moving environment.

What you'll get to do:

  • Support the day-to-day execution and coordination of media campaigns across TV, YouTube, podcast, audio, CTV, and OOH.
  • Help manage campaign QA across active media channels, including airchecks, promo code checks, URL redirect testing, and partner deliverable tracking.
  • Run airchecks in Podscribe to verify ad placements, timing, and campaign details.
  • Support weekly and monthly reporting by gathering campaign data, organizing KPIs, and helping identify insights, trends, and optimization opportunities.
  • Assist with pacing, delivery tracking, and campaign documentation to help the media team stay organized and aligned against goals.
  • Support the evolution of Vuori's media strategy through a test-and-learn approach, helping evaluate new platforms, audiences, ad formats, placements, creative, and partner opportunities.
  • Manage campaign QA across promo codes and vanity URLs, including weekly discount code audits, leaked code monitoring, code swaps, and show-specific URL redirect checks.
  • Partner with creative, brand, PR, influencer, social, site, and e-commerce teams to support campaign launches, maintain brand consistency, and keep cross-functional partners aligned.
  • Assist in onboarding new podcast, audio, video, and media partners by coordinating materials, tracking next steps, and helping ensure launch details are clear.
  • Communicate clearly with internal teams, agencies, and external partners to keep projects moving and ensure deadlines, deliverables, and campaign updates are tracked.
  • Help maintain organized documentation across campaign trackers, reporting files, partner notes, creative assets, and measurement requirements.
Qualifications

Who you are:

  • 2+ years of experience in marketing, media, e-commerce, advertising, agency coordination, or a related role preferred.
  • Interest in paid media, performance marketing, podcast/audio advertising, streaming video, TV/CTV, YouTube, OOH, or e-commerce marketing.
  • Comfortable working with data and basic reporting, including pulling numbers, checking for accuracy, and organizing insights for the team.
  • Working knowledge of Excel or Google Sheets, including basic formulas, sorting/filtering, and an understanding of pivot tables. Advanced pivot table expertise is not required, but a willingness to learn is important.
  • Exposure to analytics, reporting, or media tools such as Google Analytics, Shopify, Podscribe, Spotify Ads Manager, YouTube reporting, or similar platforms is a plus, but not required.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and follow-ups at once.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with internal teams, agencies, and external partners.
  • Comfortable learning new tools, processes, and platforms as the role evolves.
  • Experience working with or supporting an e-commerce, retail, apparel, consumer brand, agency, or media team is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
