The Performance Intern role primarily focuses on analyzing and optimizing marketing performance through data and digital campaigns, whereas the Marketing Intern typically supports broader marketing activities like content creation and market research. Both roles are entry-level and often found in similar industries, but their core responsibilities differ based on specialization.

What is a Performance Intern?

A Performance Intern is a student or recent graduate who assists professionals in performance-related fields, such as performing arts, sports, or corporate performance improvement. Their responsibilities often include supporting rehearsals, helping with event logistics, conducting research, and learning industry-specific skills. Performance Interns gain hands-on experience, network with professionals, and develop practical knowledge to prepare for a full-time career in their chosen area.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Performance Intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Performance Intern, you typically need a foundational understanding of exercise science, kinesiology, or sports performance, often supported by relevant coursework or enrollment in a related degree program. Familiarity with fitness assessment tools, data tracking systems, and commonly used gym equipment is important. Strong communication, eagerness to learn, and the ability to work collaboratively with coaches and athletes are crucial soft skills. These competencies enable interns to effectively support training programs, ensure safety, and contribute positively to team environments.

What kinds of projects and responsibilities can a Performance Intern expect during their internship?

As a Performance Intern, you’ll typically assist with collecting and analyzing data related to system or application performance, preparing reports, and supporting senior team members in identifying bottlenecks or inefficiencies. You may also participate in performance testing, help develop scripts or tools to automate testing processes, and collaborate with software engineers or data analysts. This hands-on experience allows you to build technical skills and gain exposure to real-world problem-solving in a team-oriented environment. Interns often have the chance to present findings and contribute to process improvements, which can be valuable for future career growth.

Job description

Kensington Tours is seeking motivated interns to join our growing Digital team. These roles offer hands-on experience in two distinct disciplines - web experimentation and performance marketing - within a fast-paced, data-driven environment. This is a hands-on internship at the center of a high-performing growth team responsible for driving leads, revenue, and customer engagement across multiple luxury travel product lines.

Performance Marketing Intern

Reporting into the Performance Marketing team under Brett Prince, this intern will support paid digital marketing programs across Google Search, Display, Paid Social, and other paid digital channels.

 What You'll Do

  • Support the day-to-day monitoring, QA, and execution of paid search, paid social, display, and other digital campaigns.
  • Help compile weekly campaign performance reports, highlighting key trends, anomalies, and optimization opportunities.
  • Support testing initiatives across ad copy, landing pages, audiences, creative, and campaign structure.
  • Assist with keyword research, audience research, search query reviews, and competitive landscape analysis.
  • Support creative asset coordination, including trafficking ads and maintaining naming conventions.
  • Help maintain campaign trackers, budgets, pacing documentation, and launch checklists.
  • Collaborate with the broader Digital team on campaign launches, seasonal initiatives, and cross-functional growth projects.
  • Help translate campaign data into clear insights that support lead growth, efficiency, and revenue outcomes.
  • Gain exposure to how paid media budgets are managed against lead, efficiency, and revenue goals.

 What You Bring

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Analytics, or a related field.
  • Interest in paid digital media, performance marketing, and data-driven advertising.
  • Strong analytical mindset and comfort working with numbers.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working in Excel.
  • Familiarity with Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, GA4, or similar platforms is a plus.
  • Curious, proactive, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.

 What Both Roles Offer

  • Hands-on experience working within a high-performing digital marketing team at a global luxury travel brand.
  • Exposure to best-in-class tools including Amplitude, GA4, Figma, and leading ad platforms.
  • Mentorship from experienced digital marketers, analysts, and optimization specialists.
  • A collaborative, curiosity-driven culture that values learning, experimentation, and results.
  • Opportunity to contribute meaningfully to real campaigns and live digital experiences.

 What You Will Learn

  • How performance marketing budgets are managed and optimized
  • How paid, organic and content contribute to long-term growth
  • How customer experience and user experience influence conversion and engagement
  • How to interpret marketing and website data and tie it to business outcomes
  • How testing and experimentation improve conversion rates
  • How a digital team supports revenue, not just marketing activity
  • Experience with various analytical and digital tools used by marketing teams

 What We Are Looking For

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Business, Analytics, Communications, UX, or a related field
  • Strong analytical mindset and comfort working with numbers
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
