What is a performance intern?

A Performance Intern is a student or recent graduate who assists professionals in performance-related fields, such as performing arts, sports, or corporate performance improvement. Their responsibilities often include supporting rehearsals, helping with event logistics, conducting research, and learning industry-specific skills. Performance Interns gain hands-on experience, network with professionals, and develop practical knowledge to prepare for a full-time career in their chosen area.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a performance intern?

To thrive as a Performance Intern, you typically need a foundational understanding of exercise science, kinesiology, or sports performance, often supported by relevant coursework or enrollment in a related degree program. Familiarity with fitness assessment tools, data tracking systems, and commonly used gym equipment is important. Strong communication, eagerness to learn, and the ability to work collaboratively with coaches and athletes are crucial soft skills. These competencies enable interns to effectively support training programs, ensure safety, and contribute positively to team environments.

What do performance interns do?

As a Performance Intern, you’ll typically assist with collecting and analyzing data related to system or application performance, preparing reports, and supporting senior team members in identifying bottlenecks or inefficiencies. You may also participate in performance testing, help develop scripts or tools to automate testing processes, and collaborate with software engineers or data analysts. This hands-on experience allows you to build technical skills and gain exposure to real-world problem-solving in a team-oriented environment. Interns often have the chance to present findings and contribute to process improvements, which can be valuable for future career growth.

About the Role
CRB is seeking a motivated and technically curious Engineering Intern to join our Technical Advancement Group (TAG). This internship is ideal for a student interested in MEP systems, energy performance, and building modeling who wants hands-on experience supporting firmwide innovation and technical excellence.
As a TAG Intern, you will work alongside engineers and technical leaders to support energy modeling, load classification, and Revit-based analysis, contributing directly to tools, standards, and workflows used across CRB project teams.

  • Support load classification and data organization within Revit models, with a focus on MEP systems
  • Help develop, maintain, and improve Revit-based tools, templates, and workflows related to energy and load modeling
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and architectural engineers to ensure accurate and consistent model data
  • Participate in quality checks, documentation, and technical reviews under the guidance of TAG leadership
  • Contribute to internal research, benchmarking, and technical advancement efforts related to energy performance and building systems

Required Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in one of the following:

Preferred Qualifications
  • Coursework or experience related to:
    • Energy modeling or building performance analysis
    • HVAC, electrical, or integrated building systems
  • Exposure to Revit MEP, load calculations, or data-driven modeling
  • Prior internship, co-op, or project experience in engineering, BIM, or building systems

What You'll Gain
  • Hands-on experience supporting real CRB projects and firmwide technical initiatives
  • Mentorship from experienced engineers and technical leaders within TAG
  • Exposure to how energy modeling and Revit data support design decisions across disciplines
  • Professional development through CRB's intern programming, technical trainings, and collaborative culture
