Job Summary and Qualifications The Sr Director, Pharmacy Contracting is responsible for negotiating industry leading national agreements for the group purchasing organization in the area of Pharmacy. Objective is to ensure best in class industry pricing and contract terms and conditions. Position's key area of focus will be sourcing initiatives that are primarily categories with high to very high spend, complexity, risk and sensitivity. Individuals have broad expertise in principles of negotiation and has demonstrated thorough understanding of contract terms and conditions. This position has the ability to independently think through problems, identify risks, and devise appropriate solutions in high pressure situations. Individuals must be proficient in mitigating business/contractual risk, identifying cost savings opportunities, assessing assigned portfolio performance, and adept at identifying new areas for contracting. Individual interprets complex internal or external business issues and takes a broad perspective in identifying and executing solutions. The Sr Director provides project leadership for back-office team members (finance, contract administration, etc.) and may sometimes direct other team members on specific tasks and objectives to complete and prioritize. In addition, they provide strategic leadership and direction at a higher level regarding suppliers, projects, client needs, and input from senior leadership.

What you will do in this role:

  • Collaboratively plan, manage, and execute sourcing and contracting projects across assigned categories, delivering quality work that drives financial savings.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for assigned categories, maintaining deep knowledge of products, market dynamics, cost drivers, regulatory developments, and end‑user needs.
  • Develop and execute supplier strategies by leveraging market intelligence, supplier financials, technology roadmaps, and competitive insights to drive value and mitigate risk
  • Lead complex sourcing initiatives end‑to‑end, including market research, RFI/RFP development, negotiations, contract awards, and contract launches
  • Create, validate, and adapt contracting strategies in collaboration with clinicians, executives, and internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment with customer needs and organizational objectives
  • Present category strategies, sourcing outcomes, and recommendations to advisory boards, executive leadership, and other governance forums with clarity and influence
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and customers, including negotiation of enterprise‑wide agreements and representation at industry events and site visits

Portfolio Management:

  • Manage, maintain and improve the performance of the assigned contract portfolio, both operationally and financially. Portfolio includes critical and highly committed sourcing types that require extensive implementation and/or conversions
  • Understand supplier new product offerings and collaborate with advisory board lead and business unit leader to assess products
  • Coordinate with sourcing, account management and other team members to ensure we are maximizing the programs outlined in our agreements
  • Work with other HealthTrust teams to ensure we are capturing full value from the contracts, to include: rebates, admin fees, and contract connectivity
  • Oversee contract implementation with supplier and communication of contract implementation to HealthTrust account management
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • 7+ years of relevant work experience preferred. Ideal candidate will have experience in strategic sourcing and negotiating a variety of contracts in the Pharmaceutical industry.
