Introduction

We're looking for a motivated college student to join IBM's Chief Sustainability Office (CSO) as a Sustainability & Business Transformation intern. This internship provides a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of sustainability, data, AI, and business operations, helping IBM explore how sustainability initiatives create measurable business value and drive enterprise transformation.

The successful candidate will gain exposure to how sustainability is integrated across a global technology company, supporting initiatives that advance environmental objectives while improving efficiency, resilience, innovation, and business performance. This role offers opportunities to collaborate with professionals across sustainability, technology, finance, operations, supply chain, product development, and business strategy teams.

Your role and responsibilities

As a CSO Intern, you will:

  • Support projects that help quantify and communicate the business value of sustainability initiatives.
  • Analyze sustainability, operational, or business data to identify trends, opportunities, and insights.
  • Explore how AI, automation, and advanced analytics can accelerate sustainability outcomes and business performance.
  • Conduct research on emerging sustainability trends, technologies, regulations, and market developments.
  • Assist with the development of presentations, analyses, dashboards, reports, and recommendations for internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate opportunities that improve efficiency, reduce environmental impacts, and create business value.
  • Support projects that integrate sustainability considerations into business processes, decision-making, and enterprise strategy.

Supplemental 1 employees may be eligible for up to 8 paid holidays, minimum of 56 hours paid sick time and the IBM Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
