Job Summary:

The Automation Application Engineer is responsible for supporting customers in selecting and implementing automation products that best meet their technical and budgetary needs. The role involves meeting directly with customers, providing training and programming assistance, and supporting key accounts that regularly purchase automation solutions. The position also requires collaboration with vendors to ensure optimal product selection, as well as internal support for sales teams through technical guidance, product interchanges, bill-of-material management, and supplier updates. Continuous learning is essential to stay current with new automation technologies. Strong technical expertise, communication skills, and customer-focus are critical for success in this full-time, non-exempt position.

Job Responsibilities:

30%

Meet with customers in person. Propose automation products with the best combination of performance, cost and availability to those customers based on their requirements. Can be with or without primary Baldwin account managers.

20%

Support key accounts who consistently purchase automation products from Baldwin. Support can include training, product enhancements, and programming support.

15%

Collaborate with vendors at customer sites when necessary to determine the best products to select for those customers.

20%

Support Automation Sales Specialist and inside sales with product selection, interchange, bill of material management and supplier updates.

15%

Continuous training to stay current with primary vendor’s new products and technologies

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Engineering preferred or related required
  • Automation Sales 5-7 years experience preferred
  • Valid Drivers’ License

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Technical experience using automation products- 2+ years
  • Strong Computer skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
