Job description

Integrated Mill Systems (IMS) is a process automation solutions provider. IMS designs, builds, programs, and implements Level 1 control systems, primarily in support of the metals producing and processing market, providing a wide range of equipment and services for both new and retrofit projects. Position Overview:

Automation engineers are responsible for fulfilling project assignments, individually or as part of a project team. Assignments may include involvement in multiple projects simultaneously. IMS is seeking candidates for our Portage, IN office.

Pay: $65,000.00 - 95,000.00 per year

Schedule: Monday - Friday, Other

Travel Requirement: Up to 25% travel

Position Overview:

The Installation Project Engineer executes all project assignments, individually or as part of a project team within the Installation Group. Assignments may include involvement in multiple projects simultaneously. The design emphasis includes power system design, network design, control/device design all with an installation engineering focus for the installation of IMS equipment (Drives, RIO, Operator Stations and Desks, and PLC and/or Networking Cabinets).

Primary Duties:

  • Installation design of Power and Drive system applications, both AC and DC power.
  • Block Diagram creation for all Power, Networking, and Device portions of a project.
  • General Arrangement creation or modification of existing equipment laying in new equipment locations with conduit/tray routing.
  • Cable and Conduit Schedule creation.
  • Can read and understand electrical schematics (existing and new), civil drawings, mechanical drawings, and hydraulic drawings.
  • On site field investigations for all Installation Engineering worked on for any specific project worked on
  • On site commissioning of all Installation Engineering completed for any specific project worked on

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Engineering or equivalent industrial experience
  • Travel requirements are up to 25% of the time

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with AC and DC Drive systems
  • Experience in working with NEC codes for design of power and drive systems
  • Metals processing knowledge is preferred
  • Knowledge of ETAP software for power studies and harmonic analysis
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD Electrical
  • Willingness and desire to participate in ongoing training for technical competency
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A team player and a dedication and concern toward completing work in a timely manner
  • Understanding of the industry and keeping whole company IMS perspective with customers and projects
  • Be flexible and adaptive member of the IMS team, occasionally shifting focus to augment or help other projects or teams outside the primary scope of duties
  • A desire to continue to learn and adapt to new skills
  • Continually improve skills and knowledge to advance within the organization
  • Bring new information, ideas, and practices to the IMS team, but also being capable of following direction and orders from management and leadership
