Job Objective:

Produces quality screening and diagnostic mammography exams. Performs breast ultrasounds, if applicable, assists radiologist with procedural exams, dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) exams; educates patients regarding procedures and accurately documents procedures completed and procedure codes.

Education:Required: Graduate of a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) approved School of Radiologic TechnologyLicensure/Certification:Required: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Radiology (R) and Mammography (M) or American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) Breast (BR); California Radiologic Technologist (CRT) Mammography license; American Heart Association BLS Experience:Required: One (1) year of experience as a Mammography Technologist performing screening mammographyPreferred: Diagnostic mammography experienceReports To: Breast Center DirectorSupervises: N/A Ages of Patients: Adult, GeriatricBlood Borne Pathogens: Moderate Potential

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:

Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and unexpected situations, Ability to communicate with patients, healthcare professionals, and staff to ensure clear and accurate exchange of information, Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations in a calm and professional manner, Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines, Knowledgeable in special procedures and diagnostic procedures, Proficient in use of mammography, ultrasound and DEXA equipment

Essential Responsibilities

1. Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.2. Interacts compassionately and effectively with patients providing a Five Star experience by reducing anxieties; provides explanations of procedures and equipment, and answers questions3. Escorts patient from sub-wait area to procedure room.4. Explains procedure to patient prior to beginning exam.5. Obtains appropriate breast and family history before procedure is completed.6. Explains comparative film review and obtains patient film release signature, as appropriate.7. Performs appropriate screening procedure or diagnostic procedure.8. Performs breast ultrasounds, if applicable.9. Assists with stereotactic core biopsies, ultrasound core biopsies and needle localizations.10. May be required to assist/perform Quality Control/Quality Assurance.11. Completes all documentation accurately and timely in EHR and PACS systems.12. Performs bone density screening as requested.13. Maintains cleanliness of all radiology equipment and rooms.14. Maintains current and adequate CEUs per Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) and state regulatory requirements and remains proficient in using diagnostic equipment.15. Cross trains to learn all modalities including ultrasound, stereotactic biopsy, localization procedures, etc.16. Follows department timekeeping procedures; obtains prior authorization for any overtime.17. Works at main campus and satellite facilities.18. Performs other duties as assigned.
