Job description

We are seeking an exceptional Director of Bedding & Mattresses to scale our high-growth Bedding business and launch our Mattresses business. This leader will be responsible for executing our established category strategy, identifying whitespace opportunities, and consistently upgrading the quality and technical specs of our assortment, while reinforcing our customer value proposition. 

This is a high-impact role for a commercially driven, hands-on leader who can combine sharp category judgment with operational rigor and drive meaningful revenue and margin growth in a fast-growing, customer-obsessed business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with team to profitably scale Quince's well established Bedding category, delivering a curated assortment that reinforces our value proposition and drives meaningful revenue growth, and launch our Mattress category, a clear category adjacency with tremendous revenue potential 
  • Leverage data and customer insights to build, optimize, and scale the assortment - analyzing performance, refining product mix, and making evidence-based decisions - to meet customer needs and achieve financial goals (revenue, margin, inventory health, return rate, etc.) 
  • Continuously identify whitespace in the assortment and rapidly expand into net new product types in year one, including fabric blends, functional bedding, sleep health solutions, and mattresses
  • Support culture of continuous improvement and leverage data for ratings, reviews, and return rates to drive product improvements
  • Partner closely with Sourcing and Product Development to launch new products, with a focus on performance, sustainability, and the highest quality materials and craftsmanship 
  • Build SOPs to support product consistency across multiple vendors and ensure cross-functional alignment as we continue to scale 
  • Collaborate with marketing, site, and creative teams to ensure compelling product launches and storytelling that reflect brand positioning 
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration and support team in alleviating roadblocks, serving as the category expert and advocate for the customer 
  • Operate as a structured, data-driven decision maker and commercial leader, as this role requires deep cross-functional collaboration with Sourcing, Planning, QA, Operations, and Marketing partners to accelerate growth 

Requirements:

Role is based in San Francisco California, with 3 days per week in office requirement.

  • 12-15 years of progressive leadership experience in Home Textiles Merchandising, ideally with a focus on luxury bedding 
  • 5+ years management experience with track record of progressing within an organization and demonstrating continuous growth in roles and responsibilities 
  • Strong track record of identifying winning products, developing compelling assortments, and driving category growth in a fast-paced, high-growth retail environment
  • Product obsessed with experience leveraging data tools and external sources to anticipate customer needs (both the "science" and "art" of retail merchandising) 
  • Exceptional cross-functional leadership skills, with the ability to align merchandising, marketing, operations, and supply chain teams to deliver a cohesive bedding strategy.
  • Strategic and data-driven thinker with a bias for action and strong commercial acumen.
  • Motivated by working in a fast paced, collaborative environment, where flexibility to stretch into or out of functional comfort zones is crucial for team success
