Job description

The City of Gardiner is seeking a motivated, team-oriented individual to fill the full-time 37.5 hour/week position of Deputy Tax Collector.

This position reports directly to the City Clerk/Tax Collector and is responsible for assisting and supporting in Tax Collection duties. The ideal candidate will be able to work well in a fast-paced environment, and have strong administrative, accounting and communication skills.  This person must excel in customer service and have a desire to be part of a great team.

They will receive and record payments of property taxes and sewer taxes, and balance cash drawer.  They will also assist with lien processes, provide information to citizens and real estate agents on property taxes, and register cars, trucks and other motorized vehicles.

This person will process permit applications related to Code and follow-up on pick-up and payment; as well as provide administrative support to the Ordinance Review Committee and the Historic Preservation Committee; preparing and distributing meeting agendas, and taking minutes.
