Job description

Per Diem School Nurse

Lexington Christian Academy is seeking a per diem school nurse to cover the Main Campus Health Office 8-10 hours per week during the academic year. The nurse would see students to administer prescription medications, assess illness, and for any other student body related health needs throughout the school day. Hours will be filled with flexibility. This is an hourly position.

Responsibilities
  • Providing assessment and nursing care for the student body during the school day:
    • Assessment relating to physical or mental health sickness, first aid and emergency care
    • Administration of prescription medication as prescribed by MD for school administration.
    • Assess and/or call for emergency medical services, as needed.
  • Utilize Slack for all internal communication to teachers regarding students whereabouts.
  • Utilize electronic health record (SNAP Health) to document all student visits/care at the health office.
    • SNAP is HIPPA/FERPA compliant EMR documentation.
  • Ensure appropriate storage, handling and documentation of prescription and non-prescription medications in accordance with state regulations.
    • Utilizing SNAP Health for Medication administration documentation and parental approval of OTC's.
  • Maintain confidentiality in communicating and recording health information.
  • Communicate with appropriate faculty/staff/dorm staff on Slack for student-specific health care needs on a need to know basis, so that students will be optimally supported in their educational process.
    • Utilizes Slack for internal communication.
Qualifications
  • Passion for LCA's mission and faith
  • Current and active Nursing License certification in MA.
  • In-depth knowledge of and passion for health and wellness
  • Strong interpersonal skills and great customer service orientation
  • Active BLS certification
Schedule

This is a 10 month position approximately 8-10 hours a week on the Academic Work Cycle. The per diem school nurse serves in the Health Office during school hours on weekdays from 7:30am - 3:00pm. The per diem nurse would not be responsible to work weekends or holidays. How these 8-10 per diem hours are met is flexible and can be discussed and tailored based on the applicant availability and Health Office needs.
