Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Neuro RN for a night shift assignment requiring 2+ years of experience and a NC or compact RN license.

Details
  • Medical Surgical Neuro unit caring for neuro surgical and neuro diagnosis patients
  • Patient ratios of 1:5-6
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45-7:15)
  • Option for 36 or 48 hours per week (OT not billed until after 48 if selected)
  • 13-26 week contract lengths accepted
  • Uses Pyxis, SBAR, and EPIC systems
  • Floating required
  • 12-16 weekend shifts required per contract, with some flexibility for discussion
  • May be required to work as part of a Storm Team/Hurricane Team and report during catastrophic events or mass casualty situations
Requirements
  • Active NC or compact RN license (pending license/certs OK for consideration)
  • BLS certification required
  • ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS certifications preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
  • Neuro nursing experience preferred
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Charge nurse experience preferred
  • Experience with telemetry, isolation precautions/PPE, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, and IV therapy/phlebotomy
  • Skill in peripheral line care and starting/maintaining IVs
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start
Additional Information
  • Provide medical-surgical nursing care to patients with neurological and neurosurgical conditions
  • 2 orientation shifts on the unit following hospital-based orientation
  • Navy scrubs required
  • Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
  • RTO capped at 7 days maximum with no RTO during the first week of assignment
  • Travel pairs allowed if on different units and disclosed at submission
  • Local candidates accepted at a lower rate within 50 miles of the facility
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees (perm/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before applying, with facility approval required
  • Current travel per diem clinicians must choose between travel or per diem status, as both are not permitted simultaneously
