As a Per Diem RN, you have the flexibility to choose your shifts based on your availability, which makes this role ideal for those seeking work-life balance or supplemental income. Scheduling is often managed through online portals or direct communication with nurse managers, and you may be asked to fill shifts on short notice to cover staff shortages or peak periods. Building strong relationships with staffing coordinators and being open to various shifts can help you secure more consistent work.

What is a per diem RN?

A Per Diem RN is a registered nurse who works on an as-needed basis rather than having a set, full-time schedule. Per diem RNs often have flexibility in choosing their shifts, but they may not receive the same benefits as full-time staff. This role is ideal for nurses seeking variety and work-life balance.

Job description

Aspire Health and Community Services recognizes that attracting and retaining exceptional staff is the key to providing excellent care for our clients. Whether a staff member is providing direct care to those we serve or working on the administrative end supporting the services we are proud to provide, each person's contribution is highly valued.
Our mission, vision and values are supported by organizational culture guiding the work for every staff member: We are one compassionate, accountable community.
Working at Aspire Health and Community Services can provide enormous job satisfaction. Your contribution is serving to help fulfill a mission, vision and values that support our belief that mental health is the foundation of a person's overall health and we work to foster an environment that is safe and supportive and free of judgement or prejudice around mental health. In addition, Aspire Health and Community Services offers a competitive package of compensation and benefits.
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Community Crisis Stabilization (CCS) team. In this role, you'll provide specialized nursing care to adults in a 24-hour crisis stabilization program that serves as a medically necessary, voluntary, and less restrictive alternative to inpatient psychiatric hospitalization.
Our CCS program features a newly renovated 10 bed unit where individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis receive short-term stabilization and support. Typical stays range from 3 to 5 days but are flexible based on each individual's needs.
What You Will Do:

  • Monitor clients' physical health needs and coordinate acute medical care with direct care staff as needed.
  • Facilitate health and wellness groups and activities that promote recovery and overall well-being.
  • Deliver strength based, solution focused nursing interventions and support individuals in developing Wellness Recovery Action Plans (WRAP) and safety plans.
  • Complete assigned clinical documentation and participate in required trainings to support high quality care.

What You Will Bring:
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Diploma, Associate, or Bachelor's degree)
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound clinical judgment, and provide compassionate, high-quality care
  • One year of experience in an acute mental health and/or co-occurring disorders setting preferred
  • Familiarity with recovery oriented treatment approaches for individuals with severe mental illness preferred

By joining Aspire Health and Community Services, you will make a direct impact supporting adults during times of behavioral health crisis, collaborate with a dedicated multidisciplinary team in a newly renovated crisis stabilization program, and help individuals achieve stability and recovery in a compassionate, community-based setting.
Compensation is based on candidate experience, qualifications, and certifications and licenses. Annual ranges listed are based on a full-time, 40 hours per week position.
Salary Range
$40-$40 USD
