What is a per diem remote RN?

A Per Diem Remote RN job is a flexible nursing position where a registered nurse works on an as-needed basis from a remote location. These nurses typically provide telehealth services, case management, triage, or health coaching. Instead of a fixed schedule, they pick up shifts based on employer demand and their availability. This role is ideal for RNs seeking flexibility while maintaining clinical practice.

What does a per diem remote RN do?

As a Per Diem Remote RN, your daily routine typically involves assessing and managing patient needs via telehealth platforms, documenting care in electronic health records, and providing health education or triage services. Your schedule is highly flexible, allowing you to select shifts based on your availability rather than following a set weekly pattern. You'll collaborate virtually with healthcare providers, case managers, and support teams, while remaining responsive to patient inquiries throughout your shifts. This autonomy can offer a better work-life balance, though it may also require you to adapt quickly to changing demands and maintain strong self-discipline when working remotely.

What skills and qualifications are needed for a per diem remote RN?

To succeed as a Per Diem Remote RN, you need an active RN license, strong clinical judgment, and experience in telehealth or remote patient care. Familiarity with telemedicine platforms, EHR systems, and secure digital communication tools is important, as well as certification in BLS or ACLS. Outstanding organizational skills, self-motivation, and compassionate communication help you excel in a remote and flexible work environment. These abilities ensure you deliver safe, effective care and maintain strong patient engagement, even from a distance.

  • Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans that align with evidence-based practices, ensuring each client receives the most effective care possible.
  • Providing therapeutic interventions through modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), tailoring approaches to meet each client's unique needs.
  • Documenting patient progress and interactions in comprehensive clinical records while adhering to HIPAA regulations and organizational policies.
  • Collaborating seamlessly with a multidisciplinary treatment team, engaging in case discussions with psychiatrists, psychologists, and nurse practitioners to ensure holistic care.
  • Participating in peer review meetings and case consultations, contributing insights that elevate the quality of care across the team.
  • Educating patients and their families on mental health issues, treatment options available, and community resources, empowering them to make informed decisions.
  • Staying current with industry research and developments, integrating new findings into practice to further enhance patient outcomes.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your caseload will primarily involve patients facing complex emotional challenges related to terminal illnesses and palliative care needs. You will work closely with families, recognizing the profound impact that mental health support has in conjunction with physical health during challenging times.

Qualifications
  • A Masterโ€™s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution, demonstrating a solid foundation of academic expertise.
  • A valid Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license in the state of Pennsylvania, confirming your qualifications and commitment to ethical practice.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience providing psychotherapy, showcasing your proficiency in addressing diverse mental health issues.
  • In-depth knowledge of solution-focused interventions and a track record of successful client outcomes, underlining your ability to foster change.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, essential for building rapport with patients and collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in hospice or palliative care settings, offering specialized insights into the unique challenges faced by patients in these environments.
  • Proficiency with electronic health record systems and teletherapy platforms, facilitating efficient case management and service delivery.
  • Previous involvement in community outreach or psychoeducation programs, enhancing your ability to connect families with vital resources.

The compensation package for this role ranges from USD 80,000 to 100,000 annually, reflecting your professional expertise and commitment. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer comprehensive benefits that include health insurance, paid time off, professional development opportunities, and access to mental health resources.
