About the Role

The Per Diem Operating Room RN plays a vital role in supporting patients through their fertility journey by delivering exceptional care in the surgical suite. This position is ideal for compassionate, detail-oriented individuals who excel in fast-paced environments and want to make a meaningful difference. As a Per Diem Operating Room RN, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide pre-, intra-, and post-operative care while ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and comfort.

We are seeking a Per Diem Operating Room RN to join our dedicated team at Pinnacle Fertility – Oregon in Downtown Portland, OR. This onsite per diem role is ideal for someone with availability on Mondays and Tuesdays, plus the flexibility to work an additional weekday as needed. Current scheduling needs average approximately 2–5 days per month, Monday through Friday, with shifts scheduled between 6:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Candidates must be comfortable with a flexible, as-needed schedule based on patient and surgical volume.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for procedures, perform preoperative assessment, give discharge instructions, and start IV.
  • Recover patients after general anesthesia and monitored anesthesia care. Reinforce discharge instructions.
  • Deliver direct patient care during pre-, intra-, and post-operative phases in the surgical suite.
  • Accurately document patient care and procedures in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Clearly communicate post-operative instructions to patients and families.
  • Oversee surgical suite operations, ensuring cleanliness, sterility, and equipment functionality.
  • Adhere to and enforce aseptic techniques, quality control measures, and safety standards.
  • Initiate emergency protocols as needed and coordinate equipment repairs.
  • Mentor new staff and provide updates on any protocol changes.
  • Support organizational policies and contribute to process improvements.
  • Collaborate with the Surgery Manager to assess equipment and supply needs.
  • Monitor patient conditions and communicate changes to the surgical team.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Education & Licensure:
    • Completion of an accredited nursing program (Associate’s Degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing).
    • Active RN license issued by the Oregon State Board of Nursing.
    • Current BLS and/or ACLS certifications, or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of two years' experience as an RN.
    • Minimum of 1 year of RN experience in a pre-op/post-op setting preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work in a diverse and fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to perform physical tasks including standing for extended periods, bending, transferring patients, and pushing or pulling equipment.

Compensation

  • Hourly Rate: $45.00 – $60.00 per hour (final offers based on experience, skills, and qualifications).
