We are looking for a:
Field Construction Technician

Position Summary:

The Field Construction Technician is responsible for supporting the construction, maintenance, and operation of electrical substations. This is a hands-on position that performs a variety of construction tasks while working safely as part of a field crew. Rate of pay is $22 per hour+ Per Diem when traveling.

This position requires overnight travel during the workweek. Employees typically return home every weekend. Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform general construction work on electrical substation projects.
  • Prepare construction sites by digging trenches, grading work areas, and setting up materials.
  • Build, install, and remove concrete forms.
  • Assist with concrete placement and masonry work.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and work instructions.
  • Complete field reports and required project documentation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site.
  • Assist crew members with daily construction activities.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and quality standards.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires the ability to:

  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Bend, kneel, squat, climb, and work in physically demanding conditions.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Work on uneven terrain.
  • Perform manual labor throughout the workday.
  • Work safely in hot, cold, wet, windy, and other outdoor weather conditions.

Travel Requirements:

  • Overnight travel during the workweek is required. Daily Per-diem paid.
  • Employees are typically home every weekend.
  • Occasional overtime may be required based on project needs.

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or GED preferred.
    • Previous construction, utility, concrete, landscaping, excavation, or other outdoor labor experience is preferred but not required.
    • Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
    • Ability to read basic construction drawings and follow written and verbal instructions.
    • Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

    • 4 Day, 10 Hour Shifts
