Job Summary

PER DIEM - REGISTERED NURSE (RN) ED/ER (PEDS)

Temporary, Part-time

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality ED pediatric nursing care to stabilize and treat patients.

  • Perform triage, rapid assessment, and prioritization of pediatric cases in ED.

  • Administer medications and monitor for adverse reactions in pediatric patients.

  • Adhere to regulatory requirements, privacy laws, and hospital policies at all times.

  • Document patient encounters accurately in EHR and ensure data integrity.

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and support staff to coordinate care.

  • Maintain infection control, safety protocols, and pediatric-specific equipment readiness.

  • Escort and support pediatric patients and families, providing clear explanations.

  • Demonstrate professional development by pursuing certifications and expanding pediatric ER skills.

  • Support on-site shift coverage, including per diem scheduling and adaptability to patient load.

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical guideline updates.

  • Meet performance targets and contribute to pipeline-based territory planning as applicable.


Experience/Qualifications

  • Active RN license with pediatric ER/ED experience preferred

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required or within 6 months

  • Prioritize and triage pediatric cases using standardized protocols

  • Ability to administer meds and monitor for adverse reactions in children

  • Proficient EHR documentation with attention to data integrity

  • Strong infection control and safety protocol adherence

  • Excellent family communication; provide age-appropriate explanations

  • Ability to work per diem, on-site, with flexible shift coverage

  • Collaborative teamwork with physicians and support staff

  • Pursue ongoing pediatric ER skill development and certifications
