Job description

Oshkosh - ED
24 hours per week 12 hour night shifts.
About Facility

• Level III Trauma Center
• Level III NICU
• Primary Stroke Center
• Beds: 72
• Covid vaccine required
General Information
• Beds: 22
• Experience: ED RN- 2 years of ER experience: M/S RN: 2 years M/S experience
• First-time traveler: Yes
Patient Types:
• Peds to Geriatric (mostly geriatric population), General ED skillset, including chest pain, abdominal pain, falls
• Peds experience not required but preferred
• M/S RN: ER holds only: general MS patients, no ICU patients
Patient Ratios:
• ED RN: 1: 3-4 (days & nights)
• M/S RN: 1:5 (days & nights)
Required Certifications:
• ED RN: Required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC; Preferred: CPI/MOAB, ENPC
• M/S RN: BLS, ACLS
Skills required:
• ED RN: Required: General ED skillset: PIV starts, blood cultures (with proper technique), chest tubes, code blue experience, triage; Preferred: art lines, critical care experience, central line placement, thoracentesis, charge experience
• M/S RN: chest tubes, traches, medication administration, wound care, general MS skills
Support on the Unit:
• Charge nurse: occasionally takes patients
• CNA: 2 techs share the unit 1 HUC, 1 tech
• Paramedic: mid shift only
• Phlebotomy/RN: primary RN responsibility with access to phlebotomy for challenging/time sensitive draws (phlebotomy does all draws for inpatient holds)
• Hospitalist 24/7
• Mid-level: 0800-2400
• Respiratory therapist 24/7
• Bedside and Nurses station telemetry monitoring, no tele tech for ER patients
• Tele tech for ER holds only
• Unit secretary, 24/7
Charting System/Equipment:
• EPIC- required
• Alaris
• Pyxis
• Belmont rapid infuser: only for ED RN - preferred
Floating:
• None for ER RN
• M/S RN- float to M/S units, 1st to float
Orientation:
• at least one shift to learn flow
Scheduling:
• Weekend rotation - ED RN: every other; M/S RN: (T, W, TR schedule) generally no weekends, but could work as needed
• Can we approve time off? 7 days, more than reach out to NM
• On call: low census, travelers called off first
• Holiday Expectations: as needed, based on staffing at the time
