What is a per diem consulting meteorologist?

A Per Diem Consulting Meteorologist is a professional meteorologist who provides expert weather-related advice and services on an as-needed or contract basis, rather than as a full-time employee. They are often hired by businesses, government agencies, or legal teams to analyze weather data, offer forecasts, and provide testimony or reports for specific projects or cases. Their flexible arrangements allow organizations to access specialized meteorological expertise without a long-term commitment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a per diem consulting meteorologist?

To thrive as a Per Diem Consulting Meteorologist, you need a solid background in atmospheric sciences, weather analysis, and forecasting, typically supported by at least a bachelor's degree in meteorology or a related field. Familiarity with meteorological modeling software, data visualization tools, and relevant certifications such as the Certified Consulting Meteorologist (CCM) credential are often required. Excellent communication, problem-solving abilities, and adaptability are crucial soft skills for delivering clear, client-focused insights on demand. These skills and qualifications are important for providing accurate, actionable weather guidance in a flexible consulting environment.

What are some typical challenges faced by per diem consulting meteorologists when managing multiple client projects?

Per Diem Consulting Meteorologists often juggle several projects for different clients simultaneously, which can present challenges in prioritizing tasks and meeting tight deadlines. Each client may have unique requirements, such as custom weather analyses, forecasts, or expert testimony, requiring adaptability and effective communication. Staying updated with the latest meteorological tools and ensuring the accuracy of deliverables are also critical aspects of the role. Successful consultants typically develop strong time management skills and leverage technology to streamline workflows.

Job description

BCBA / BCaBA Behavior Consultant – Per Diem Evening amp; Weekend ABA

Location: In-Home amp; Community-Based Cases Throughout South Jersey
Position Type: Part-Time | Per Diem
Pay Rate: $65/hour for Billable Hours
Schedule: Evenings amp; Weekends | Minimum 10 Hours of Availability

Looking for ABA Work That Fits Around Your Schedule?

Maybe you already have a full-time role but want to stay connected to clinical work. Maybe you're looking to add meaningful evening or weekend hours without taking on another traditional schedule.

Interactive Kids is looking for experienced BCBAs and BCaBAs to provide part-time consultation services with our Elementary Learners program throughout South Jersey.

This is an independent consultant role working directly with clients, families, and direct-care staff in home and community settings. You'll have the flexibility of per diem work while still being connected to an experienced clinical team.

What You'll Do
  • Provide individualized ABA consultation in home and community settings
  • Develop, monitor, and update behavior programming based on client needs
  • Guide and support RBTs and ABA Therapists implementing treatment plans
  • Provide caregiver training, modeling, and clinical recommendations
  • Review data and make treatment decisions based on client progress
  • Collaborate with families, staff, and the Interactive Kids clinical team
  • Complete consultation notes and required documentation accurately and on time
  • Maintain professional and ethical standards in accordance with BACB requirements
The Schedule

This position is specifically designed to support our evening and weekend caseloads.

Consultants must:

  • Provide at least 10 hours of availability per week
  • Be available for weekday cases between approximately 2:30 PM and 8:00 PM
  • Have some weekend availability
  • Be comfortable traveling to assigned clients throughout South Jersey

Because this is a per diem position, consultants are paid for billable service hours only.

Who We're Looking For

This is not an entry-level consultant position. We're looking for someone who already has the clinical foundation to step into cases and work independently.

You should have:

  • Active BCBA or BCaBA certification
  • At least 1 year of experience providing ABA consultation in home or community settings
  • Confidence managing cases independently
  • Strong clinical judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written documentation and communication skills
  • Experience collaborating with caregivers and direct-care staff
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to complete required onboarding before beginning services
  • Completed 8-hour supervision training by your first day
What Comes With the Role
  • $65/hour for billable services
  • NJ sick time accrual
  • New Staff Orientation (NSO) stipend
  • Access to free CEUs when attending eligible Professional Development Days
  • Crisis intervention and CPR training available at no cost when needed (training time unpaid)
  • Access to clinical resources and support from the Interactive Kids team

Please note: As a per diem position, this role does not include PTO, holiday pay, or full-time employee benefits.

Why Interactive Kids?

Flexible doesn't have to mean disconnected.

Our per diem consultants are still part of the Interactive Kids team. You'll have access to clinical collaboration, resources, and a group of professionals who care about providing thoughtful, individualized ABA services.

You bring the experience. We'll connect you with opportunities to use it in a way that works with your schedule.

Interested in Adding a Few Meaningful Hours to Your Week?

If you're an experienced BCBA or BCaBA looking for flexible evening and weekend consultation work, we'd love to connect.
