Job description

About the Role:

The purpose of this position is to support the Quality Departments ability to achieve its goals. This includes accurate and timely programming and inspection of parts as well as review of incoming material, work-in-process and customer shipments to achieve AMT quality and business objectives and comply with AS9100 standards. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write, develop, validate and debug measuring machine programs and provide the supporting documentation for CMM inspections.
  • Communicate with all machinists, supervisors, and engineers to meet customer/shop floor needs.
  • Recommend and implement the best programming practices and aspire to support measurement systems for the manufacturing organization.
  • Troubleshoot and solve both machine issues and related problems in the measuring process.
  • Perform 1st piece, in-process and last piece inspection using micrometers, calipers, comparators, various gauges and CMM equipment according to AMT, customer and AS9100 standards.
  • Complete customer PPAP requirements including control plans and inspection reports.
  • Perform incoming material inspection tasks according to AS 9100 procedures and counterfeit awareness per AS6174.
  • Perform final inspection and shipping tasks according to AS 9100 procedures.
  • Perform process and manufacturing audits and follow-up with corrective actions.
  • Cross train across multiple departments as needed.
  • Perform data collection and communication tasks in ERP and other applications.
  • Comply with all Advanced Machining and Tooling policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years CMM programming or 5+ years CMM operating and a drive to learn programming.
  • Strong specific knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T, setup, tooling and fixture techniques.
  • Knowledge of how CAD models work.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking abilities and root cause analysis.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient use of basic shop arithmetic
  • Awareness of general safety, and quality systems.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

Nice to Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Specific applied knowledge of aerospace quality procedures and AS9100.
  • Knowledge of non-destructive testing, metal finish processes and heat treatment processes
  • Working knowledge of CNC machining, tool, fixture, work-holding and die design.
  • Ability to understand CMM reports.

1st shift - 6:00 am to 2:30 pm
2nd shift - 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm
40 hours per week with option for overtime based one employee ability and company need.
