How much do per diem clinic rn jobs pay per hour?

As of Jul 11, 2026, the average hourly pay for per diem clinic rn in the United States is $47.93, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $35.58 and $57.21 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is the difference between Per Diem Clinic Rn vs Staff Nurse?

AspectPer Diem Clinic RnStaff Nurse
CredentialsRN license, certifications as neededRN license, certifications as needed
Work EnvironmentClinic settings, on-call or as-needed basisHospitals, clinics, full-time or part-time
Employment TypePer diem, flexible schedulingFull-time, part-time, permanent
UsageTemporary coverage, fill-in shiftsRegular patient care, ongoing responsibilities

Per Diem Clinic Rns typically work on a flexible, as-needed basis in clinics, providing temporary coverage. Staff Nurses usually have a regular schedule and ongoing patient care duties. Both roles require an RN license and relevant certifications, but differ mainly in employment structure and work setting.

What jobs pay 4000 a week without a degree?

Per Diem Clinic RNs typically do not earn $4,000 weekly without specialized experience or high-demand skills, as their pay is often based on hourly rates and shifts. High-paying healthcare roles like travel nurses or specialized medical professionals may reach or exceed this level, especially with certifications and experience, but most jobs paying this much without a degree are in sales, real estate, or entrepreneurial ventures. Achieving such income usually requires significant experience, skills, or business ownership rather than entry-level positions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Per Diem Clinic RN, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Per Diem Clinic RN, you need a current RN license, clinical expertise in outpatient care, and the ability to quickly adapt to different clinical environments. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, basic diagnostic equipment, and sometimes certifications like BLS or ACLS are typically required. Strong communication, flexibility, and the ability to work independently are standout soft skills in this role. These competencies ensure safe, efficient patient care and allow the RN to seamlessly integrate into varying teams on short notice.

How does scheduling typically work for a Per Diem Clinic RN, and what level of flexibility can I expect?

As a Per Diem Clinic RN, your schedule is generally more flexible compared to full-time or part-time roles. You may have the ability to choose shifts based on your availability or respond to staffing needs as they arise, which is ideal for nurses seeking work-life balance or supplementary income. However, this flexibility can come with varying hours week-to-week and less predictability, so it's important to be adaptable. Per Diem nurses are often called upon to fill in during busy periods, staff shortages, or employee absences, so strong communication with the scheduling coordinator is key.

Does per diem nursing pay more?

Per diem clinic RNs often earn higher hourly rates compared to full-time staff due to the flexibility and short-term nature of the work. However, they typically do not receive benefits like health insurance or paid time off, which can affect overall compensation. Pay rates vary based on location, experience, and facility policies.

What is a Per Diem Clinic RN?

A Per Diem Clinic RN is a registered nurse who works on an as-needed basis in a clinic setting, rather than having a regular, full-time schedule. These nurses provide patient care, assist physicians, and perform nursing duties during shifts that may vary week to week. Per diem positions offer flexibility and are often used to cover staff shortages, vacations, or increased patient volume. This role requires the same qualifications and licensure as other registered nursing positions, but with more flexible scheduling.

How to make $300,000 as a nurse?

Per Diem Clinic RNs can increase earnings by working multiple shifts, gaining specialized certifications, and choosing high-paying facilities or regions. Building experience and taking on overtime or extra shifts can also boost income, but reaching $300,000 annually typically requires additional roles or advanced positions beyond standard per diem work.

How to make an extra $2000 a month as a nurse?

Per Diem Clinic RNs can increase their income by taking on additional shifts, working at multiple clinics, or specializing in high-demand areas like urgent care or telehealth. Gaining certifications such as ACLS or BLS can also qualify for higher-paying assignments, and flexible scheduling allows for maximizing hours to reach the extra income goal.
