What is a per diem Centene LPN?

A Per Diem Centene LPN is a Licensed Practical Nurse who works for Centene Corporation on an as-needed or flexible basis rather than being a full-time or part-time employee. In this role, the LPN provides nursing care, support, and health assessments to patients, often covering shifts when regular staff are unavailable or during periods of high demand. Per diem positions offer flexibility in scheduling but may not provide the same benefits as permanent roles. These nurses play a vital part in ensuring continuous, quality care in Centene’s healthcare programs and facilities.

What does a per diem Centene LPN do?

As a Per Diem LPN at Centene, you'll be expected to provide high-quality nursing care on an as-needed basis, often filling in for staffing gaps or covering high-demand periods. Your duties typically include administering medications, monitoring patient health, assisting with care plans, and collaborating closely with RNs, physicians, and case managers. Since the work is per diem, flexibility and adaptability are important, as assignments may vary in location and duration. This role offers exposure to different teams and care environments, which can help broaden your clinical experience and network within the organization.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a per diem Centene LPN?

To thrive as a Per Diem Centene LPN, you need a valid LPN license, a solid grasp of clinical procedures, and experience in managed care or similar healthcare environments. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and case management software is typically required. Strong organizational skills, adaptability, and clear communication help you excel in a flexible, fast-paced setting. These competencies are crucial for delivering quality patient care and meeting Centene's standards in a per diem role.
