How much do per diem bcba insurance jobs pay per year?

As of May 29, 2026, the average yearly pay for per diem bcba insurance in the United States is $89,075.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $74,000.00 and $90,500.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Per Diem BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) in insurance-based roles, and why are they important?

To excel as a Per Diem BCBA in insurance settings, you need a master's degree in behavior analysis or a related field, active BCBA certification, and experience developing and overseeing ABA treatment plans. Familiarity with insurance billing systems, electronic health records (EHRs), and data collection software is vital. Strong communication, organizational skills, and adaptability help BCBAs collaborate with families, staff, and payers while managing flexible caseloads. These skills ensure effective service delivery, compliance with payer requirements, and optimal outcomes for clients receiving behavioral health services.

How does the flexible, per diem structure of a BCBA insurance role impact workload and collaboration with other professionals?

As a per diem BCBA working with insurance clients, your schedule is typically more flexible, allowing you to take on cases as they arise rather than maintaining a full-time caseload. This arrangement often means you'll collaborate closely with case managers, RBTs, and insurance coordinators on a case-by-case basis. While this flexibility is attractive, it can also present challenges, such as variable hours, fluctuating workload, and the need to quickly adapt to different client needs and documentation requirements. Regular communication with the broader clinical team and staying up-to-date with insurance protocols are essential for success in this role.

What is a Per Diem BCBA Insurance position?

A Per Diem BCBA Insurance position refers to a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) who works on an as-needed basis, often providing behavioral health services to clients whose treatment is covered by insurance. 'Per diem' means the BCBA is not a full-time employee but is scheduled according to client demand or coverage needs. These professionals assess, design, implement, and monitor behavior intervention plans and often handle insurance documentation and compliance. This flexible arrangement can allow BCBAs to manage their own schedules while ensuring clients receive necessary services. Insurance companies or agencies typically require BCBAs in this role to maintain credentials and follow all relevant billing and reporting guidelines.

Job description

About Hand Over Hand LLC

At Hand Over Hand, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to thrive. As a leading provider of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy, we partner with families to empower children with autism and developmental disabilities. Our work is deeply mission-driven: weโ€™re here to make a difference in the lives of children and their communities.

Our culture is collaborative, supportive, and purpose-filled. We celebrate the growth of our team, of our families, and of ourselves. If youโ€™re passionate about early childhood development and want to do meaningful, hands-on work that truly changes lives, youโ€™ll feel right at home here.

Why This Role Matters

This isnโ€™t just another per-diem BCBA role; itโ€™s an opportunity to deliver high-quality, individualized ABA services where life actually happens. As a Home Program BCBA, youโ€™ll provide clinical oversight and treatment planning for clients receiving services in home, school, and community environments, supporting children, adolescents, and adults with diverse needs.

Youโ€™ll focus on meaningful outcomes, helping clients build skills that support independence, participation, and success across everyday routines, while collaborating closely with families, caregivers, schools, and direct service staff.

How Youโ€™ll Make an Impact

  • Deliver individualized clinical care: Conduct assessments and develop treatment plans tailored to each clientโ€™s environment and goals.
  • Support real-world skill development: Design programs that promote generalization across home, school, work, and community settings.
  • Provide clinical leadership: Supervise and support RBTs and Behavior Therapists to ensure treatment fidelity and ethical practice.
  • Partner with families and teams: Collaborate with caregivers, educators, and interdisciplinary providers to align goals and strategies.
  • Drive data-based decisions: Analyze behavioral and skill-acquisition data to guide program adjustments and outcomes.
  • Maintain flexibility and balance: Provide high-impact clinical services while maintaining a schedule that fits your availability.

What Youโ€™ll Own & Elevate

  • Conduct assessments (FBAs, skill assessments, preference assessments) across home, school, and community settings.
  • Develop and update individualized treatment plans and behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
  • Provide supervision aligned with BACB standards, including observation, feedback, and staff coaching.
  • Review data, session notes, and clinical documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Support caregiver training and consultation.
  • Collaborate with internal clinical leadership to ensure quality, consistency, and continuity of care.
  • Maintain ethical standards, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance at all times.

Who You Are

  • A clinically strong, ethical BCBA who values flexibility and autonomy
  • Comfortable working across diverse environments and client populations
  • Skilled at building collaborative relationships with families and direct care staff
  • Organized, data-driven, and confident in clinical decision-making
  • Compassionate, professional, and calm in complex or high-stakes situations
  • Motivated by meaningful outcomes, not just hours on a schedule

What You Bring

  • Masterโ€™s degree in ABA or related field
  • Active BCBA certification in good standing
  • State licensure as required
  • Experience providing ABA services in home, school, or community-based settings
  • Experience supervising RBTs and clinical staff
  • Strong understanding of ABA ethics, documentation, and payer requirements

Why Youโ€™ll Love Working Here

  • Per-diem flexibility: Create a schedule that fits your availability and lifestyle
  • Competitive compensation: Based on experience and case needs
  • Sick leave package: Paid time off based on hours worked โ€” because caring for our team is just as important as caring for our clients.
  • Clinical autonomy with support: Independence paired with collaborative leadership
  • Mission-driven work: Support meaningful change for individuals across the lifespan
  • Respect for workโ€“life balance: We value sustainable, ethical practice
  • Purpose & pride: Be part of a team committed to quality without compromise
