Job description

JMT's Allentown based Construction Management Team is seeking Transportation Construction Inspection professionals to join our team. We have multiple positions available on projects within PennDOT's District 5-0 region (Lehigh, Berks, Carbon, Monroe, and Schuylkill Counties).
The successful candidate will apply standard inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction for structural quality, general safety, conformance to plans, specifications and codes.
Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations
  • Perform routine tests on concreate, soils and other materials
  • Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes.
  • Gather and maintain record documents
  • Make field notes and computations

Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills
  • Computer Proficiency

Required license and/or certifications
  • Active driver's license and reliable motor vehicle
    • Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening

Preferred Certifications
  • Client Requested certifications, including: NICET Level II or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction
  • NECEPT-Bituminous and Concrete Field Technician
  • ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician

Required Experience
  • Highway or bridge construction inspection experience

Preferred Experience
  • Prior (1 or more years) of Construction Inspection or Highway Occupancy Permit Inspection experience with PennDOT and/or Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission and an overall understanding of roadway/bridge construction. Must have High School or GED equivalent, higher education may be substituted for experience.
  • CDS V-3 and/or ECMS Wave 5 Experience
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management, additional technical degrees are eligible for consideration

Working Conditions
Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
