Job description

Silver Creek Construction, Inc. is seeking experienced and highly motivated people to join our team. We are currently looking to fill the position of Common Laborer for our Heavy Highway construction company concentrating in concrete building and repaving. Common Laborer's will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks involving physical labor on roadway, highway, bridges, and heavy construction projects. This position requires travel. Majority of our projects occur within the state of Texas, but occasionally some out of state projects arise. Silver Creek Construction, Inc. offers competitive wages, out-of-town accommodations, and daily per diem for overnight stays.

Starting Pay is $18.00-20.00/hr depending on experience.

All tools and Personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided.

Primary Responsibilities

Performs any combination of the following duties on construction projects by transferring from one task to another, where the demands require a worker with varied experience and ability to work without close supervision.

Levels earth to fine grade specifications using a pick and a shovel. Spray materials such as water and curing compound. Operate small machinery including but not limited to water pumps, portable electric generators, portable sprayers, power and hand tools. Mix, pour, and spread concrete. Clean and seal joints. Assist in traffic control activities and work zone barricade placement.

Knowledge/Skill Requirement
  • No experience is required but it is preferred in Heavy Highway Construction or similar industries
  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Knowledge and practice of safe work practices
  • Team Orientation
Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Stretching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, throwing, walking, standing, hammering, rubbing, reaching, kneeling, and squatting

Requires regular lifting of up to 80 lbs.

Walking or standing may occupy the entire day.
