Certified Peer Support Worker

The Women's Housing Navigation team is excited to welcome a Certified Peer Support Worker (CPSW) who is passionate about helping individuals and families experiencing homelessness move toward stability and permanent housing.

You'll work alongside a dedicated team providing peer support, leadership, and hands-on guidance while helping create a safe, trauma-informed environment where recovery and housing success are possible. Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc. (CPLC) is a nonprofit organization and one of the largest Hispanic Community Development Corporations in the United States.

The organization began with a group of student and community activists in 1967 and was incorporated as a nonprofit in 1969. Today, CPLC is committed to empowering individuals and families through health and human services, housing, education, and economic development.

How will you make an impact in this role? As a Certified Peer Support Worker, you'll combine your lived experience with professional peer support practices to empower clients on their journey toward recovery and permanent housing. You'll provide direct peer support while serving as a leader and resource for the Housing Support Specialist team, helping ensure high-quality, trauma-informed services across Rapid Rehousing and Transitional Housing programs. You'll assist with complex client situations, mentor team members, coordinate daily operations, and support program compliance and reporting. From helping clients navigate crises to celebrating housing successes, your work will make a meaningful difference every single day.

Minimum Qualifications and Competencies

Education/Background: Must be CPSW through a recognized program, such as the New Mexico Certified Peer Support Worker training program. Lived Experience: CPSW will have a personal history of overcoming mental health or substance use challenges. Previous experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness or in a supportive housing setting is highly desirable. Strong understanding of trauma-informed care principles and a commitment to applying them in practice. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and demonstrate cultural competency. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in a fast-paced, high-stress environment. Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office and client management software. Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally as needed.
