Job Title: Wellness Center All-Team Lead Peer Educator

Description of the Position:ย 

The Wellness Center All-Team Lead Peer Educator identifies student needs, coordinates ideas and suggestions, and assembles informational programs to support the St. Olaf College community. The primary role of the student All-Team Lead Peer Educator is to support the entire Wellness Center student team. Additionally, the student All-Team Lead Peer Educator communicates with the student body about major wellness center initiatives, collaborates with offices and student organizations, and represents the Wellness Center in a variety of meetings and spaces at St. Olaf.ย 

In general, the student All-Team Lead Peer Educator works approximately five to eight hours a week for the Wellness Center. These five hours typically include the following:


  • Office Hours- the student All-Team Lead Peer Educator is typically scheduled to work two hours in the office a week and picks up shifts as needed/ensuring shifts are covered.

  • Weekly Wellness Center Staff Meeting- the All-Team Lead Peer Educator is expected to help cultivate, attend, and sometimes lead the weekly staff meeting on Thursdays from 11 am-12:30 pm.

  • Check-In Meetings- the All-Team Lead Peer Educator will meet individually with the Assistant Director for Wellness and Health Promotions (AD) weekly to review all Wellness Center programming and bonding logistics.ย 

  • Program Requests/Events- When available, the All-Team Lead Peer Educator will sign up to present to a group on campus who has requested a specific program from the Wellness Center or represent the Wellness Center at different campus events.

Duties and Responsibilities:ย 

The All-Team Lead Peer Educator has many important roles and responsibilities within the Wellness Center. The following describes the most common position responsibilities:

  • Administrative- The All-Team Lead Peer Educator schedules and maintains the Wellness Center office hour calendar, manages the submission of monthly session reports, and approves wellness events in Presence. The All-Team Lead Peer Educator also manages the event request form and assigns staff to events when needed. The All-Team Lead Peer Educator works with the Promotion and Outreach Lead to take meeting minutes and may be asked to facilitate part or all of a weekly staff meeting. In addition, the All-Team Lead Peer Educator can facilitate monthly Assistant Team Lead meetings when needed.ย 

  • Community Education- The All-Team Lead Peer Educator oversees the planning and programming for the Wellness Center and supports the Peer Educators when applicable. The All-Team Lead Peer Educator also presents to new students during Week One and may be asked to present during spring or fall training.

  • Community Building- The All-Team Lead Peer Educator is responsible for building cohesion among the entire Wellness Center team. The All-Team Lead Peer Educator is required to plan two social bonding events for the team each semester.

  • Peer Coaching- The All-Team Lead Peer Educator provides one-on-one support to students who have questions or need guidance while at St. Olaf. These topics can include (but are not limited to) homesickness, roommates, concerns about friends, coming out, consent, and general health and well-being questions.ย 

  • Role Modeling- The All-Team Lead Peer Educator serves as a mentor and teacher to the Wellness Center team. As such, the All-Team Lead Peer Educator is expected to abide by all College policies and make balanced informed decisions.ย 

  • Professional Development- The All-Team Lead Peer Educator is continually learning. It is required that the All-Team Lead Peer Educator actively participates in all professional development opportunities. All training is paid and includes the follow:

    • Meet Current Wellness Center Team: TBD Spring

    • Summer Bonding Dates: TBD after hire

    • Summer Asynchronous Training (10 hours)

    • New Student Orientation & Fall Training: Full-time the week before NSO. Dates TBD after hire


  • Other Responsibilities- Throughout the year, other tasks or duties for the Wellness Center may be assigned during an office shift such as distributing toilet talks, hanging posters, etc.

Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills)ย 

  • Previous experience as a Wellness Center Assistant Team Lead Peer Educator or equivalent experience is required.ย 

  • Strong organizational skills and communicative skills are required.ย 

  • The All-Team Lead Peer Educator must be in good academic and disciplinary standing with the college.

  • The All-Team Lead Peer Educator must present with genuine sensitivity and concern for others as individuals, as well as a personal and professional commitment that goes beyond outlined responsibilities.

  • Preference will be given to applicants who will be on campus for both the fall and spring semesters (this does not include Interim).
