Job description

Job Title: Machine Operator 2nd shift

Job Description

The Machine Operator oversees the safe and efficient operation of production machinery to consistently supply high-quality products while meeting production deadlines. This role includes operating reroller and peeler machines, using a sit-down forklift in the conversion department, supporting the creation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other production documentation, and providing training and general direction to Assistant Machine Operators. The position also involves routine participation in departmental, production, safety, and company meetings, as well as cross-training into other job functions as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Operate production machinery, including reroller and peeler machines, to produce high-quality products that meet production schedules and safety standards.
  • Set up, run, and monitor machines to ensure proper operation, product quality, and adherence to specifications.
  • Operate a sit-down forklift in the conversion department to move materials and feed product into the lamination machine safely and efficiently.
  • Provide training, guidance, and general direction to Assistant Machine Operators to support team performance and development.
  • Assist in creating, updating, and following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other production-related documentation.
  • Perform inventory data entry accurately to support material tracking and production planning.
  • Cross-train into other production and machine operation functions as needed to support overall departmental flexibility and coverage.
  • Attend and actively participate in departmental, production, safety, and company meetings on a routine basis.
  • Follow lockout/tagout and other safety procedures when applicable to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Troubleshoot basic machine issues and collaborate with others to resolve production or equipment problems.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area while working with rubber materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment while maintaining focus on safety and quality.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in machine operation, including setup, monitoring, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Experience operating a sit-down forklift in a production or warehouse setting.
  • Proven ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Comfort working in a production environment where surfaces and materials may be dirty due to the rubber manufacturing process.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and production guidelines consistently.
  • Knowledge of lockout/tagout procedures and safe machine isolation practices.
  • Experience with machine setup and changeovers.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for production machinery.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.75 - $18.75/hr.
