A Pediatric Operating Room Nurse is a specialized registered nurse who cares for infants, children, and adolescents before, during, and after surgical procedures. They work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a safe and sterile environment. Their responsibilities include preparing patients for surgery, assisting during operations, monitoring vital signs, and providing post-operative care. These nurses must have strong critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to comfort young patients and their families.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a pediatric operating room nurse?

To thrive as a Pediatric Operating Room Nurse, you need specialized pediatric nursing training, strong surgical care skills, and an active RN license with Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification. Familiarity with surgical instruments, electronic documentation systems, and strict adherence to sterilization protocols is essential.
