Job description

Open Door is seeking a Dental Hygienist.

Reporting to the Chief Dental Officer, based in Ossining, NY. The Dental Hygienist provides dental services to patients in accordance to professional standards and practices. All Open Door Family Medical Centers are located in Westchester and Putnam counties located just North of New York City, which offer excellent schools, easy access to a multitude of outdoor activities, and superb transportation connections to New York City.

Responsibilities

  • Provides dental hygiene, preventive dental care and education to patients of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups.
  • Utilizes appropriate diagnostic equipment to perform examination of teeth and oral structures.
  • Records findings on dental record.
  • Formulates treatment plan and discusses case presentation with patient.
  • Obtains medical and nursing consultation when necessary in addressing total needs of patient.
  • Assists in the maintenance of dental records and inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Presents oral hygiene educational programs.
  • Checks and makes dental appointments.
  • Participate in quality assurance review.
  • Maintains records in accordance to standards of care.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Dental Hygiene from approved school of dental hygiene.
  • Registered dental hygienist in New York State.
  • Maintains continuing education credits in accordance with New York State Regulations.
  • Minimum of one year experience as dental hygienist.
  • Thorough knowledge and practice of quality dental hygienist practices.
