If you are a team player with a passion to drive your career in Bridge Design, Popli Design Group (PDG) is the place for you! PDG is seeking a Project Engineer to add to our growing and talented Transportation team.

As a Project Engineer specializing in Bridge design, your role will include preparing complete project documents for structural components of transportation projects; reviewing complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance; and coaching junior staff in the preparation of design calculations, design details, specifications and cost estimates for structural components of transportation projects.


Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and performs the preparation of design calculations and details
  • Oversees and performs the preparation of contract plans and specifications
  • Oversees and performs the preparation of construction cost estimates
  • Oversees and performs the review of construction submittals
  • Assists with the management of projects
  • Leads field visits to collect data and evaluate existing conditions
  • Leads field visits to resolve construction issues
  • Coaches junior staff


Required Skills:

  • Possesses knowledge of applicable engineering principals and techniques
  • Effectively expresses thoughts and ideas both verbally and in writing in the English language
  • Proficient in the use of applicable computer software
  • Performs assigned tasks accurately and efficiently
  • Is an active and supportive team member
  • Understands basic safety requirements
  • A Valid Driver's License and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) is required.


Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • 5 - 10 years of progressive experience in the field
  • Professional Engineer (PE)


Work Environment:

  • Professional office environment
  • Occasional work outside of the office at project sites
  • Travels occasionally within NY State and surrounding areas
  • Interacts primarily with other PDG personnel
  • Receives close supervision, training and mentoring when necessary


Physical Demands:

  • Must physically be able to perform field inspection work, e.g., carry/climb ladders, wade in streams, work around traffic, work at heights, etc.
  • This job requires prolonged periods of sitting at a computer
  • This job requires the ability to lift up to 25lbs
