Job description

Field Technician - Pile Dynamic Analysis - Jefferson, Louisiana

Professional Service Industries, Inc. (Intertek-PSI) is a leading US based provider of construction assurance, testing and inspection in civil and commercial construction. Our broad service offering includes construction materials testing, geotechnical services, environmental engineering, industrial hygiene, and specialty testing.

What are we looking for?

The Field Technician I is responsible for performing a variety of testing, project specific observations and site assessment duties under general supervision and/or from detailed controlled procedures. The ideal candidate will be willing to travel throughout the U.S. performing various PDA & TIP testing and SPT calibrations.

What you'll do:

  • Operate testing equipment and conduct testing (example: Attaching sensors and or cables and verifying the sensors are operating correctly and collecting data) and provide assessment of data through reporting
  • Utilize drawings, specifications, and diagrams
  • Use specific methods and perform tasks to make detailed observations of site activities and give limited interpretation of results
  • Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results
  • Work remotely with staff engineers to collect data.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Pile Dynamic Analysis (PDA) experience is required
  • Valid driver's license and reliable driving record
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time
  • Ability to learn new computer operating software easily.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and a measuring tape.
  • Ability to lift, move, push and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently; Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, (hearing) and to make the discriminations in sound
  • Ability to kneel and squat occasionally
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures
  • Ability to climb occasionally, and work at various heights
  • Ability to work over night hours and off shift
  • Must be able to work off shift and overtime as needed

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Thermal Integrity Profiling (TIP) Experience
  • Low Strain, Echo Testing (PIT) Experience
  • Standard Penetration Testing (SPT) Experience
  • Construction Experience
  • Engineering degree
