Job Description:

BHMG Urgent Care Paducah

PCT PRN

The Patient Care Technician will be responsible for the examination and treatment of patients under the direct supervision of the physician or advanced practice clinician.

Duties include but not limited to the following: check in patients, obtaining vital signs (height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, pulse oximetry, temperature) and medication reconciliation, patient medical history information, expediting patient flow, rooming patients, stocking clinic with supplies, navigating electronic health record system (EPIC), and performing other non-clinical duties as needed.

The PCT will communicate in a respectful manner and will uphold Baptist's mission and core values that drive service excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages the coordination and flow of patients throughout the patients visit to create an exceptional patient experience.

  • Proactively check the provider's schedule and review information within the patient record to ensure that all required information is available prior to their visit.

  • Proactively obtains any missing information from the patient to ensure that medical records are accurate and up to date, which helps to ensure better care is being provided.

  • Upon arrival, captures patient's vital signs, past medical, social and family history, medication usage and preferred pharmacy information.

  • Ensures compliance with all state and federal regulatory requirements including HIPAA/OSHA compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities based on Training and Scope:

  • Assists provider with all tasks associated with patient rooming as requested within the scope of training

  • Interacts with patients, patient family and caregivers in a professional and courteous manner.

  • Assists other clinical personnel as needed and interacts with the other healthcare providers to facilitate a smooth continuum of care within scope of training.

  • Assists with coverage of Patient Access areas.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Basic computer skills, specifically with navigating within databases containing highly confidential information.

  • Basic Life Support and other advanced training as appropriate, within 90 days of hire.

  • Upon hire these disciplines will be required to attend orientation| externship and additional training as needed.
