Job description

Description

Do you want to be part of an organization focused on creating defining innovations that ensure our nation 's preeminence in the 21st century?

Would you like to further the development and fabrication of hardware, used to solve hard problems and whose solutions have an important bearing on National Security, Military Readiness, Space Exploration, National Health, and the advancement of fundamental science or engineering?

If so, we're looking for someone like you to join our team at APL.

We are seeking a Computer Aided Manufacturing Engineer to help support the front-end data processing and panelization for a variety of APL internally fabricated hardware. This hardware ranges from high reliability configured space product to quick turn deployable rapid prototypes. Tasking beyond the primary support role (InCAM Pro) includes bare board electrical testing, laser drilling, and mechanical CNC drilling and routing.

This position includes a highly variable mix of work opportunity.

This is not a remote position.

As a CAM Engineer, you will contribute to the following areas:
  1. Computer Aided Manufacturing Engineering for incoming printed circuit boards including rigid, rigid-flex, and flexible circuits, as well as developing processing flows for the fabrication area using CAM software. Perform design checks, panel layout, coupon generation, file generation, and support manufacturability reviews with customers. Generate work orders with fabrication information and support closeout activities when complete.
  2. Backend support of the CAM software including editing of design rules checks and automation scripts. Involvement in the development of new ideas to further the technical progress of our product. Provide basic computer support for equipment in the facility.
  3. Coach customers on printed circuit board design and fabrication design guidelines.
  4. Interface with customers during pre-production tooling and giving production status updates.
  5. Attend design reviews for fabrication feasibility and readiness.
  6. Operate PCB manufacturing equipment and process boards as needed. This may include working with chemicals, and lifting heavy objects.

Note: This job summary and listing of duties is for the purpose of describing the position and its essential functions at time of hire and may change over time.

Qualifications
You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...
  • Have a Bachelor 's Degree in a technical field or equivalent work experience.
  • Have 5+ years of experience in printed circuit board manufacturing.
  • Have 2+ years of experience with printed circuit board computer aided manufacturing software Genesis 2000 and/or InCAM software.
  • Are familiar with requirements defined in IPC-6012, 6013, 2221, and 2223.
  • Are proficient in programming in either Perl, CShell, or Python.
