How much do pcb cam engineer jobs pay per year?

As of Jul 6, 2026, the average yearly pay for pcb cam engineer in the United States is $106,386.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $76,000.00 and $132,500.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Pcb Cam Engineer position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a PCB CAM Engineer, you need strong skills in PCB design, computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), and a solid understanding of electronic circuit fabrication, often supported by a degree in electrical engineering or related fields. Familiarity with industry-standard CAM software such as Genesis 2000, Ucamco, or CAM350, and knowledge of IPC standards are typically required. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are valuable soft skills for this role. These competencies are crucial for ensuring manufacturability, minimizing production errors, and collaborating efficiently with design and fabrication teams.

What is a Pcb Cam Engineer job?

A PCB CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) Engineer is responsible for preparing and optimizing PCB design data for manufacturing. They analyze PCB designs, check for errors, apply design rule checks (DRC), and generate manufacturing files such as Gerber, NC Drill, and panelization data. Their role ensures that the PCB design is manufacturable, cost-effective, and meets industry standards. They work closely with designers and fabrication teams to resolve any potential issues before production.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of a PCB CAM Engineer?

As a PCB CAM Engineer, your daily tasks typically involve preparing and reviewing PCB data files, performing design rule checks (DRCs), and optimizing layouts to meet manufacturing requirements. You'll use CAM software to analyze and edit circuit board files, communicate with designers and manufacturing teams to resolve issues, and ensure data accuracy before production. Collaboration is common, as you may work closely with quality control and process engineers to troubleshoot problems. This role requires strong attention to detail and offers the opportunity to directly impact both product quality and production efficiency.
