Job Summary

The Payroll Analyst supports accurate and timely payroll processing in partnership with the Payroll Manager, ensuring standard payroll practices are followed and records are maintained appropriately. This role focuses on payroll tax, audit, reconciliation, and compliance-related activities while helping resolve payroll issues and support employees and managers with payroll-related questions.

Job Location

This role will work out of our office in South Jordan, UT.

Job Responsibilities Payroll Submission
  • Accurately imports payroll data from electronic timekeeping system into computerized payroll system
  • Scan garnishments over to ADP or UKG
  • Reviews payroll batches
  • Ensure that computing, withholding, or deductions associated with net pay is done properly
  • Oversee the distribution of paychecks and direct deposit processing
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and internal policies
  • Ensures payroll records are updated and reports on any matters of interest
  • Reviews wages computed and corrects errors to ensure the accuracy of payroll
  • Answers payroll inquiries from employees/managers and makes necessary corrections
System Administration
  • Works on payroll and time keeping system administration tasks as needed.
Reporting
  • Prepare periodic reports of earnings, hours, taxes, and deductions for interested parties
  • BLS reporting for those companies that have been polled for national labor statistics
Taxes and Audits
  • Assists with audit and tax related issues, gathers documentation, analyzing data and reporting on findings
  • Organizes and reviews forms associated with federal, state, and local authorities, such as W-2s
  • Balances Payroll Registers to Quarterlies to Annual tax submissions for each payroll entity
  • Responsible for opening, closing or updating Withholding, Unemployment and Local tax accounts for all payroll entities
  • Manages Local Tax account creation as needed for various EIN’s
  • Completes Yearend tasks and updates checklist as necessary
Training
  • Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses
  • Periodic training on issues surrounding time submittal and system applications
Other
  • Works with HR, Accounting, Legal, and the Finance departments as needed on mutual projects/issues.
  • Compile and submit for approval and payment of Workers Comp, NJ/DE Labor and Workforce Development bills as needed
  • Backs up Payroll Manager when out of the office
  • Other duties may be assigned
Job Requirements
  • Knowledge of payroll processing practices, payroll taxes, wage and hour laws, FLSA requirements, garnishments, deductions, and year-end processes, including W-2 preparation and reconciliation.
  • Knowledge of internal controls, audit procedures, payroll compliance requirements, and accurate recordkeeping/documentation practices.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, reconciliation, auditing, and troubleshooting skills related to payroll, timekeeping, deductions, and system issues.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, lookups, data validation, and data analysis.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, time management, and ability to meet strict payroll deadlines.
  • Ability to research and interpret payroll regulations and communicate payroll information clearly to employees, managers, HR, Finance, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, work effectively under pressure, and contribute as a collaborative team player.
  • Associates or equivalent.
  • At least 3-5 years' experience processing payroll.
  • Experience with payroll and HRIS systems; experience withADP Workforce Now or similar systems preferred.
