Overview
The Payroll Supervisor will be responsible for leading and developing the Saddle Creek Logistics Services' payroll team reporting to the Payroll Manager. This position will oversee timely, and compliant payroll operations for 55+ locations across multiple states. This role is responsible for managing end-to-end payroll processing, payroll tax administration, audits, and Workday payroll activities, including release testing and system enhancements. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong payroll expertise, a passion for team development, and a commitment to continuous improvement, compliance, and exceptional customer service. This position reports to the Payroll Manager.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing in Workday, ensuring payrolls are completed accurately, timely, and in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Supervise payroll, garnishments, deductions, and multi-state payroll compliance.

  • Review payroll audits, reconciliations, and reporting activities to ensure accuracy and mitigate risk.

  • Maintain and strengthen payroll internal controls, SOPs, and audit-ready processes.

  • Serve as the functional lead for Workday payroll, including release testing, system enhancements, configuration support, and integration oversight.

  • Monitor regulatory changes and implement policy and system changes to ensure ongoing compliance.

  • Drive process improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for automation, standardization, and operational efficiency.

  • Partner with Human Resources, Benefits, Accounting, Operations, and external vendors to support payroll operations and business objectives.


Key qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred, High School Diploma or GED required.

  • 2 - 3 years of progressive payroll experience, including experience managing multi-state payroll operations.

  • 2+ years of leadership experience with a proven ability to coach, develop, and manage payroll team members.

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation required (or ability to obtain within one year).

  • Advanced knowledge of payroll laws, payroll tax administration, garnishments, wage and hour regulations, and multi-state compliance requirements.

  • Workday Payroll experience preferred or similar system experience; experience with Kronos/UKG and payroll integrations preferred.

  • Demonstrated expertise in payroll audits, reconciliations, internal controls, and compliance-driven processes.

  • Strong technical, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to manage complex payroll issues in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience leading process improvement, system enhancements, and automation initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce risk.

  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with a focus on Excel.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively partner across all levels of the organization.

  • High degree of professionalism, integrity, confidentiality, and customer-service focus.
