Job description

Position Summary

This position is responsible for managing the overall operation of the Payroll Department, specifically, payroll processing, tax withholding/reporting, funding, and external payments. In addition, this position is responsible for the management of project work as needed; specifically, system implementations, business acquisition integrations and payroll processing improvements. Requires the ability to plan, assess, and organize multiple tasks and projects to deliver successful results.

This position is open due to growth within a well-established team and its focus is on innovative processes & strategy versus fixing issues.

What You'll do as a Payroll Manager
  • Manage the work flow within the corporate payroll department to facilitate timely and accurate calculations and the preparation and distribution of compensation for multiple entities throughout the corporation.
  • Ensure that ongoing training is provided to employees relative to improved job performance, and executing new responsibilities and company policies.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews of various staff members.
  • Manage external resources utilized for projects on an as needed basis.
  • Oversee the maintenance of SOX documentation relative to all payroll processes and practices, including but not limited to payroll processing.
  • Prepare annual operating budget and ensure expenses are maintained within approved budget limits; and work to reduce processing costs both internal and external.
  • Review various income statements, Form W-2, and other appropriate reporting forms for wage and tax reporting to ensure completion is accurate and timely.
  • Manage the reporting of all payroll information as required to support management's informational needs relative to individual employees, departments, divisions and groups. This includes the preparation of information required for internal and external audits, including information required for Worker's Compensation coverage renewals.
  • Manage the process of maintaining confidential employee information required to keeping an accurate Payroll/Personnel data base and Payroll Master File.
  • Ensure the proper storage and retention of all payroll related records, according to appropriate law and company policy.
  • Participate in integration of acquisitions/divestitures to ensure timely and appropriate payroll processing, as applicable.
  • Identify, develop and execute plans to enhance efficiency and accuracy of processes in the Payroll area, according to best practices.
  • Remain up to date on federal and state tax laws and other regulatory changes that impact Payroll operations. Ensure that the filing requirements and deadlines are being met and are in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.
The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 8+ years of payroll experience, demonstrating increased responsibility with a minimum 6 years of supervisory experience.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple and competing tasks must be shown.
  • Ability to develop plans and manage special projects.
  • Ability to analyze accounting and financial information
The Preferred Experience, Skills and Abilities
  • Prior HR experience
  • Experience working with and/or leading merger & acquisition activities
  • Payroll experience working within Canada and Canadian regulations
  • Hands-on experience working within ADP Workforce Now
  • Growth-oriented/future minded/strategic mindset

Pay range for this opportunity is $95,000 - 126,000.This position is eligible for bonus participation.

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
