Job Posting for Payroll Preparer
Seeking a payroll preparer to join our Payroll Department team. Job responsibilities include payroll data entry, preparation of live and after-the-fact payroll processing and preparing payroll quarterly reports. Pay will vary with experience. Professionalism and customer centered service are of the utmost importance.
We specialize in small business bookkeeping and tax. We work with a wide variety of companies across several industries in Texas and New Mexico. The ideal candidate should possess a strong knowledge of small business accounting, along with a desire to learn and grow with the company.
Duties:
- Process and issue employee paychecks and statements of earnings and deductions.
- Compute wages and deductions and enter data using accounting software.
- Review time sheets, wage computation, and other information to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies.
- Process paperwork for new employees and enter employee information into the payroll system.
- Record employee information, such as exemptions, transfers, and resignations, to maintain and update payroll records.
- Issue and record adjustments to pay related to previous errors or retroactive increases.
- Keep track of leave time, such as vacation, personal, and sick leave, for employees.
- Provide information to employees and managers on payroll matters, tax issues and benefit plans.
- Preparation of W-2s and 1099s
- Preparation of Quarterly Payroll Tax Returns
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of payroll processing experience.
- QuickBooks Online and Desktop software experience preferred but not required.
- Accounting degree preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft programs such as Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Ability to multitask with accuracy and transition between the books of multiple businesses each day.
- Ability to work with efficiency and accuracy under tight deadline.
- Must be an independent worker with exceptional attention to detail who can work with a team.
